USAA - Homeowners claim denied

After submitting a comprehensive claim I was denied. Actually I was denied when I submitted my claim from the outset.

It only got worse as I went through their appeal process. At no time was there any attempt to view my claim with either an open mind or honesty.

I have all my insurance with USAA. After 52 years without so much as a late payment, they have denied my homeowner's claim for a busted pipe between the walls. Five different excuses for not paying a claim. Rude responses to my claim from most department specialists and a concerted and coordinated effort to avoid any responsibility. I would advise anyone considering doing business with USAA to run far and fast.

USAA - Denial of roof damage

Our community in Melbourne, Florida was hit by hailstorm in April 2019. 44 out of 49 homes were paid by their insurance company to repair the roof. My claim with USAA has been denied 3 times. They always find ways to avoid from helping me. I have been a faithful USAA member since 1978 and I have paid them religiously for all my car, life and home insurance. Not good company after all.

Many are right there with you Usaa use to care they no longer did. Don’t give up keep fighting.

If you have Facebook go to Usaa and how they scam people. Many people there also going through legitimate claims not being paid.

We are having similar circumstances and my husband has been with USAA home owner and car insurance. We had unexpected problems with the older home we purchased.

Now they are indicating that they will no longer carry us. :(

Usaa has gone down here. I have a total loss claim from October of 2017.

I was rear ended and my insurance USAA has been trying to give a low ball payoff. The car was a 2016 Toyota Corolla 18000 miles, garage kept, car cover and 3rd vehicle. Car had no dents, dings or rub marks. 100% perfect until the the wreck.

They sent me comparisons that we could not verify not even one. The body shop reported it as excellent condition. USAA sent someone to inspect and they said very good condition. I provided them (at their request) comparisons that actually exist, they asked for them and never looked st them.

Then they asked me if I was sending them and I said there on your claims site under my name and accident. No response ever given. I asked to talk to manager and they said a MGR would call me within a few days. No call came until nearly two weeks later after I told them I had filed a complaint and don’t bother to contact me until claim is settled.

I can not buy a replacement vehicle at the price they wanted to settle. I contacted the insurance commission board and filed a compliant. They missed their deadline to respond and then when they responded they never answered the compliant to where you could verify they answered everything. Thru the insurance board we sent it back for their response.

It has been months and they have not complied. Many, many messages that we have not settled are on file with their claims dept. Last week they sent me a settlement check on a unfinished claim. I have been a long term member, but after a year plus I can say this is the worst customer service I have ever had.

I told them to show me a car on this island (hawaii, Hawaii or big island) like mine that I could purchase for that price I would settle. They couldn’t and never responded. USAA has gone to *** and when we settle I will close my banking. Already switched the rest and saved money.

I recommend using insurance commission board , congressman’s office, BBB to solve your compliant. Again this was a no fault of mi e accident and the other insurance company was/is responsible and my own insurance company (USAA) is trying to cheat me. On top of that they let me make payments on the vehicle for months when they could of paid it off with undisputed money. Their offer was more than enough to pay it off and then we could settle the compliant later.

They just let me keep paying the payment and this again is my insurance company. The insurance commission board Rep. Told me they could of paid it off with the undisputed settlement money while we go thru the compliant process.

They (USAA) stuck it to their customer! If you look compliant there are thousands if complaints on them.

USAA - Shorted me out of $500 on personal property theft

USAA cheated me of about a $767 claim on a theft I had on my boat. Their conservative estimates cheated me about $500 in a claim. If I were searching for personal property insurance, I would shop elsewhere. Very dissatisfied.

VETERANS BEWARE!!!! I wouldn't give them a single star if that was an option. USAA Insurance-Despite the "WE CARE" About our Veterans-like me, present with their commercials we are all flooded with, when it comes time to file a claim in good faith, they will screw you, and basically call you a liar. 2 months ago, we had severe weather tear the roof off of my rental house, and had 2 additional events of rain and wind which destroyed the upper bedroom and all of it's contents. I had a local handyman come and remove the destroyed bed, bedding, dresser's, TV, electronics,carpet, etc. and haul it off as it was rain soaked and filthy as the entire ceiling collapsed onto all of the room. I contacted USAA the following day regarding the damaged property and went over it all with the rep. over the phone. I was then told that I would hear back. A couple of weeks go by and now I am being asked for receipts and pictures of what I had. Really? who takes pictures of all the things you may have in every room? Anyway, I sent several pictures ( what I had anyway ) along with a detailed list of what it was that was damaged. A couple of weeks go by and I get a call that "they" USAA is willing to send me a check for $2,500.00 and proceeds to tell me what I had.-magic list that didn't come from me. I paused and asked what about the other items? I was told "based on what I sent" that was all they were "prepared" to cover. I then asked about the pictures I had and the list of items that I sent to their email complaint/claim department. No answer-she had not received it. I resent it all yet again along with pictures that I found that matched what I had-and stated as well. 2 weeks go by and I get a call from an extremely rude and heavy smoker while we talk about what I had. I was asked leading questions about my claim and what I had. I explained that the pictures I had sent and the pictures I sent that "looked exactly like what I had". I was then told that she had found those same pictures on the internet. I replied I don't know exactly where they came from-could have come from my computer, etc, I again repeated that they were pictures of what I had had and lost-NOT the exact pictures from my home. Then I was told this would have to go to yet another manager. 2 weeks go by and I get another phone call about they had decided to deny my claim as I was lying to them in effect. No answer. I explained again over the phone that the pictures were of an "exact match' (news people call this file) to what I had-NOT the pictures of what I had in my home-merely an accurate example of what was lost. They did not even attempt to talk to the men that removed and hauled off the damaged items. So now I am being told basically that I am lying about what I had-( committing fraudulent claim ) and they are denying the entire claim, despite evidence to the contrary. Do not do business with this "Veteran" service-they are no better than the rest of the thieves out there.

My claim was reduced for reasons not explained I've requested the words in the policy that were used to make this decision. Usaa does not like to pay claims. They do like to brag about nothing. I'm cancelling my 5 policies after 55 years..

"USAA for Life"???? I don't think so - no matter how many times they play that commercial.

USAA is not what they once were. Also dropping insurance (across the board) that we've had with them for the past 30+ years. They simply do not care if a claim is not your fault, the do not want to pay anything at all for a homeowners claim (when we had a personal article floaters policy with surcharged premium), and frankly - there are far better insurance companies out there. Don't fall for the hype.

USAA will classify you as some sort of problem and kick you to the curb if a homeowners claim is made. Sort of disappointed and I guess they got me....... I trusted them far too long, paid more in premiums (they are not the cheapest and I did not want the cheapest), and I guess I now know better. Moving on to another insurance company.

Moving on to any other bank. Moving on to any other credit cards. Essentially, removing anything at all to do with USAA from anything that we do in the future.

Losing one customer at a time works just as badly. Regards.

Sounds like your main problem was with your mortgage company. If you have a mortgage on a property their name has to go on the insurance draft in many cases.

If you had a mortgage company that was local, you probably could have just taken the draft to them in person to sign over. That is if, you had the repairs competed!

Just so you know, insurance companies have been known to flag houses with water damage claims. If that happens, your house will not be insurable.

Your contractor should be able to take pictures and justify his estimate. Same with USAA, they should have a detailed estimate to present to to you and for your contractor to review if yu want to show it to him.

USAA - Homeowners Insurance

We are extremely upset with the customer service from USSA. It would take a novelette to provide the amount of details of the delays, negleWct and nonresponsiveness to ongoing issues with mildew caused by the rain and hail storm damages to our home, which resulted in mold and has spread throughout our home. USSA has delayed in taking care of the problem and ongoing failure to respond to our calls and emails. It has been months and still no resolve, yet the mold and mildew contines to grow. Esentially, our home is destroyed and we are nonetheless distraught by this problem. We have moved into a new home and had a buyer for our old home, however, we arent able to sell because of the existing condition. Who would have thunk a nightmare like this could happen when you contract with a company like USAA, which has been the insurance company of choice for all of our needs for generations in our family. It's hard to reach anyone, the phone hold times, leaving phone messages and getting no call backs, being directed to the internet is useless, hence, it has been impossible to get the help we need. Everyone in the business world knows the importance of good customer service, and we are just frustated, disappointed, and angry and with good cause. The problem has not been handled to our satisfaction and our goal is to get it solved and get it rigjht USAA.

I don't now know your policy with USAA, they may or may not have some coverage for mold abatement. If they do not you are going to have to get the repairs done form your own pocket.Contrary to the previous commenter's statement, some companies offer mold abatement and some do not.

If they don't have mold coverage, they will have water damage coverage, but it is subject to your deductible.

Read your policy. Mold is not usually covered. In fact, there is a good chance that your home will be put on the list where it cannot be sold or mortgaged.

Unfortunately, your driveway claim was probably not covered. Also, likely, because of the abuses over sink-hole claims, many insurance companies are reluctant to write policies in areas with this type of damage. Glad you found a company to write your new home.
