First, I'm sorry to hear about the ordeal that you have gone through; and are still going through. No one should have to deal with something like that, especially when you have paid your insurance premiums!

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this! I began to check into USAA after having a auto insurance bill rise from $186 per month to a one time bill for November 1rst of $410. This is because of buying another vehicle in September! Now this is the reason for the high bill: They made the coverage retroactive back to June of this year.

I explained that you can't charge for coverage of a new car when the new car was bought three months later. Hey that's enough for me to begin the search for a new company. What I've observed is that these companies such as USAA that say they "serve the military and those who have served" are actually companies who leech off of those who have served. This makes it even more disgusting.

Needless to say I will be cancelling my homeowners and auto insurance with these clowns. Not just because of your story but because of personally what I got a prelude to if I ever have to file a claim. My experience was a bad omen; your experience was the writing on the wall in other words.

Thanks again for posting. Although you can never be compensated for the loss of your pets, I at least hope you get compensated double for your material loss.

USAA - It stinks

I registered with signing in my info to check on auto and home insurance like advertised. Finished with all my private info and find out that they don't have home insurance for my area. I talked to a service rep. and wanted to cancel my account with the info I had registered which includes my social security ,,.email .phone,address etc. They will not cancel that info and said it would be in their system forever.. This is not good . I will endeaver to tell any one that is interested in USAA it is a csam to hold my private info as I don't want to be a customer.

USAA - Let the Buyer Beware

THE BIG USAA SCAM. The USAA homeowners’ insurance business should be investigation for its “bait and switch” operation. I moved my insurance there after being given a very favorable rate. After two years my insurance bill jumped 30%. I was told it was because of the distance of my home from the fire station. My home or the fire station hadn’t moved in the two years. But my homewner’s and auto insurance policies, two large CDs and my IRA did move – out of USAA.

USAA is no longer "serving those who served". They cancelled my homeowners insurance with no notice even though I haven't submitted a claim for decades. They claimed it was because I no longer lived in my own home but they have known about this for years because my job required me to frequently move around the world but they never had any problem collecting the homeowner's insurance premiums, auto insurance premiums, and all their other fee based services, for decades until my latest move.

Every year at renewal time, USAA sends me a letter increasing the premium. Every year when I call to protest, they reduce the premium. This last year the same happened, so I decided to talk to a supervisor and complain about what happens each year. The supervisor was not sympathetic and reviewed the current price increase and my request for and receiving a reduction. She promptly took the reduction away. I said to her- if I had said nothing about the reduction it would have gone through. She had no comment. USSA Homeowners insurance has no independent customer service. They arbitrarily increase your premium each year without informing you and giving you a chance to discuss it. Very poor customer service that does not exist, and personnel that have absolutely no regard for the customer.

A few years ago i filed a home claim on my roof that allowed snow in and melted in my attic and ruined my inside ceiling. Not only did usaa deny the claim, they doubled both my home and auto insurance. Do not trust usaa to treat service members fairly.

They have raised and raised the amount of money they charge for my insurance. Plus they also raised the value of the house to extreme.

Now I am looking to either get a new insurance company of loose the house, because I can't afford the insurance.

Same goes for car coverage. It's great to be on social security and have everyone raise ones rates!

Rate Hikes and Bad Service - What Happened to USAA?

I believe USAA's service has gotten very bad as well over the years. I recently called to ask why my property insurance went up 28% in one year and they stated it was because of Texas claims. They said that for every dollar they collected it cost them 7 cents. Ok, then charge me a 7% rate increase, not a 28% increase. I have been with USAA for 32 years. Sad to say, I am now going to leave them. All State quoted me the same coverage on my house for $2000 less per year. What happened to USAA? When did serving the customer become a second or third choice in their priority?

After many years of consist premium increases and no claims I had enough and moved my car insurance (3 cars) and 2 motorcycles to Geico. In December 2018. I saved over $1200 on annual premiums on just the car insurance alone. This week I got a call from USAA stating they will no longer allow me to keep my Umbrella policy because I no longer have my auto insurance with them. I also got my USAA homeowners renewal notice that’s going up $350 a year; I had no claims on my home in over 10 years and then only small claims. I just went over 40 years with USAA in February 2019. Looks like USAA is going to make me move all my insurance because of their overall greed. I feel very much betrayed by them and their noticeable change of doing business in the last 10 years. I had urged my 3 adult children to use USAA but not any longer. I am shipping homeowners insurance now. I have a lot of insurance needs. USAA CEO and Board of Directors need to be immediately fired an removed from any position or relationship to the company. I have formally complained numerous times over the last 10 years and the reps that I have talked too say they have recorded it and will pass it on. No call or communication ever from!!! Senior management just doesn’t care and not run it on the principles for which it was founded. I urge all to protest with you business and money and move elsewhere. If enough people leave maybe then it might reassess and return to taking care of us veterans and retired military (like me). I am very saddened and bitter at USSA but I will no longer tolerate being treated like this!

I agree. USAA has gone down hill.

Customer service does NOT service customers. Been with them for over 30 years.

Left and went to GEICO. Better for it and saving over $1,500 anyear on homeowners with better coverage

USAA raised my premiums after closing my mortgage loan being full aware that the insurance cost was under written into the loan now im getting charged an additional charge after the first year has already been paid and recieved but I cant get a solid answer out of them. My advice is do not even use USAA for anything they are frauds.

They have always been great until an actual claimed was filed on our homeowners policy. That’s why you have insurance for when you actually might need it . USAA is playing games with writing the claim check to include the previous mortgage company. They can see in the data base that there is no mortgage on the property Shocked but now they want to write the check to include our current mortgage on a new home and not the address of the claim. The claim was last July and the repairs were completed by first of September. Writing the check to the previous mortgage company makes the check worthless and allows them to retain their money. Meanwhile my homeowners association did the repairs and are not being paid for those repairs. I never dreamed USSA would be the bad guys but something is very wrong as USAA and their service. I am in shock. Shocked
