I'm having this same problem with these bastards right now as we speak. I have my car insurance and renters insurance through them as well.

Because they're holding my funds for a week, now checks will bounce. I'm leaving this piece of *** bank.

USAA offered me $500 to open a checking account and make 2 deposits totalling $500 by end of Dec. I usually avoid wasting my time with these 'bait' offers as I've received so many of them from all over the Internet; they're just so scammy! I figured - hey, I've been a USAA member for 20 years and I've even got my three adult children to bring their business in, so this might be worth looking into. So we opened our checking account. And why stop there, we also opened a savings account and an investment brokerage account. My wife changed her work stuff and had her pay go directly into the new savings account. We even transferred money in and bought some stock! So they wanted 2 deposits of $250 by December which we exceeded. And in total we moved several thousand dollars through our new USAA accounts since Nov. But when I called to inquire about the $500 (spending more than 2 hours on the phone and rerouted to 4 different departments) Lori from the Executive dept told me that we didn't setup the deposits correctly and since it was our fault, too bad, so sad, there's nothing that we or they would or could do about it! I knew it was scammy but I really didn't expect this from them! So we plan on closing the USAA accounts and go back to our old local bank; should never have changed to begin with...

USAA - Re; ability to use ATM's for cash

With new card which is debit and credit - unable to utilize other ATM's for cash. Had an incident with someone at USAA when I tried to explain that in the past could use my Credit Card to obtain cash from both 1st Hawaiian bank and Bank of Hawaii. (The credit card being my USAA one). She insisted that was impossible since she had never seen anyone who could use their credit card for that purpose. I think I reported it to quality assurance or something a day or two later. She not only would not listen to me having been a member of USAA for almost 40 years (only 31 documented apparently), but she was quite rude about it. I have to go into the bank with my card now to get any cash. I still have not heard from anyone at USAA if this will change.

. I cant access my money because someone fraudulently accessed my checking account in miami florida(havent been there in 10 years, dont know anyone there, I live in chicago and was traveling from kentucky when this happened). I have no money to use and it might take until jan 15th to resolve. Usaa gave someone permission to change my phone number(who suspiciously by the way was calling from a san antonio area code-only affiliation I have to anyone or thing in SA is USAA) and then they proceeded to change my pin, online codes, everything and remove thousands of dollars from miami atm machines. USAA keeps lying to me, they keep breaking protocol, and I yelled so mean and loud to the poor lady and the *** ERT senior rep, I would be locked up in 4 out of 5 countries. They give me no solution other than to wait for who knows how long. I dont know what to do!! I have a call scheduled with navy fed right after I meet with a consumer protection attorney tomorrow morning. Usaa screwed up, and now they are screwing me out of my money for 6 days already, possibly 10 more. When I yelled at them, magically they were able access my account that was supposedly locked out until the review was complete. Last night, I yelled and the lady from the ert team magically was able to allow access to my account, I bought groceries and thought this was almost resolved. Today, im locked out again and apparently, according to the senior *** rep from the ERT, she broke protocol. They refused to break protocol again tonight, but why did they do it last night? Are the people that stole money from my account able to scream and yell and access more of my money? So inconsistent, and in my opinion, criminally and/or fraudulently negligent. If only I could access my money to move to navy fed. The *** from the ERT asked what I did with the money from last night and why can t I borrow from family or friends. I asked if he would buy me and the kids a pizza and he laughed and declined, what sort of *** solution is that!!!! Are they going to reimburse me for late penalties and interest accrued while I cant pay my bills, *** no. Im glad they dont have any branches, or at least not one anywhere near me because I would be heading to jail tonight. I dont know what to do!!!!!

USAA - DO NOT DEPOSIT IF YOU WANT REASONABLE ACCESS TO YOUR MONEY

I am a disabled veteran and have a checking account, 2 investment accounts and 2 vehicle insurance policies with USAA. I have been depositing the same weekly payroll check via the USAA mobile app into my USAA checking account, for the same amount and drawn on the same corporate bank for over 2 years without problem. My funds have immediately been available to me in the past. USAA has begun to "hold" my checks for the entire deposited amount for 8 days before releasing and allowing access to my funds. Just yesterday I deposited a payroll check so that I could pay a car insurance premium and was stuck with a "hold" on my check until next week. I had the same thing happen on a deposit in late December, 2015. The hold is placed on the deposit for 8 days and then the funds are made available. I had been in the VA hospital and my auto insurance policy is about to be cancelled so I needed to pay it after depositing my check. Now thanks to USAA I will not be able to do that and after speaking with them there is nothing that can be done to reverse this "deposit" so that I can cash my check somewhere else and conduct my business. USAA customer service and product policy has become very customer unfriendly to the point that I am cancelling all of my accounts (auto, investment and checking) with them. If you want reasonable and timely access to your hard earned money you should avoid this "bank" and deposit it into a real bank that has a real branch near you. Meanwhile, I am stuck waiting for this smug "bank" to release my money.

After a few complaints, I spoke with an advocate who was very polite and worked to release the check hold. However, it was still held 6 days and was from a huge company, and came indirectly from USAA after a paid claim.

So, I still would avoid banking with the company or at least depositing checks. Car insurance is good, though.

Wow, do I regret not reading these reviews sooner. Everyone is correct, DO NOT open a checking account with chase, and if it's too late for that then never ever put a check in that bank. Once you do, it is gone for 10 days. I'm talking a business check from a huge company that is under $500, 10 days. Why do they do this? Oh, it has nothing to do with the check or the funds, nope it's about you personally. Are you a new account holder or can't keep $1,000 daily in your account, well then that must mean you're a criminal cashing fraudulent checks. They hold your funds days after they would have cleared. If you're like me and assumed your check would be available in 1-2 days like any normal bank, well this can mean not eating, getting your power shut off, numerous things. The best part is, they don't care. They treat you like a criminal and an ***, and they don't do anything to help you at all. I have been a member for 10 years, but all of the sudden I'm *** because I'm not rich. Best of all, the check I deposited came from a car rental company who had sent me a refund as soon as USAA themselves paid the claim. Yes, these funds came indirectly from USAA and there is even proof in my claim center of this exact check amount coming to me. Yet, they must hold it from me for 10 days to "protect me" from my horrible self. They are glorified bullies, oh and while I'm starving during this hold they made sure to take out their $150 monthly premium fee. I've never been treated so bad. I can't believe this is the same company I used to rave about. STAY AWAY!!!

USAA is scamming me out of money! May 24th, 2015, I find out in the mail that my payment for USAA had been returned, with a $25 late fee. After speaking with a representative for a little bit, I finally figure out the money was returned due to my bank account having a hold on it since my bank card was stolen before. Well, i pay May and June, and got caught up. Well, now I find out USAA will cancel my renter's and car insurance if I don't pay almost $1,100 by August 2nd, 2015, for premiums and such. Why? How can I be charged this much if my monthly combined amount due is around $225 per month? It sounds like a scam, and I will be going to my bank to find out what's going on. After reading many complaints on USAA, i'm sure something is wrong here, and I always have at least $300+ in my checking account each month, but this is ridiculous.

its been almost 3 weeks since this happen to me and nothing is being solved . . USAA is an unreliable bank. i reported fraud of 2 bad 2400$ checks and some lady from USAA called me back and blamed everything on me, kept asking me who was i involved with, yelled at me, and then HUNG UP! did not let me talk at all. what kind of service is that ! then i tried to call to make a complaint and they kept rerouting me or hanging up on me! they discontinued me from USAA and told me that my account was under investigation and it will be finish and they will return my money by june 2nd ! i call to find out whats going on and they said im still under investigation! USAA is unprofessional and i do not recommend anyone banking with them! this is not the first time i have reported a fraud. the same thing that happen to me happen to my friend and USAA deposited 10,000$ into her account and made her pay it all back! i be *** if yall make me pay yall back! GET IT TOGETHER ! stop playing with MY MONEY!

There are so many issues with USAA, in both their handling of your stolen debit or credit cards, checking, any incidents you may have with disputes-fraud departments... It is almost as if as long as a crook has your *debit card number* he will get away with it and you will treated as if it is your fault, you will be held responsible for any wrongful 3rd party charges, if a company fraudulently processes your card it will only cause YOU mass confusion, any 3rd party advertising companies representative(s) who wrongfully use bait & switch tactics, double-talk or violates US fraudulent advertising laws; USAA will treat you and talk to you rudely like it is your fault.

Unbelievably SIDE WITH THE 3rd party instead even if you have an abundance of proof. Let's not even talk about their auto and how USAA will report accidents as if they are your fault to your state automobile insurance raise your insurance as if the accident was initially your fault. USAA also treats the person at fault of the accident better than you. USAA is not a hassle free company and the longevity of you staying and having banked with them is not appreciated and means absolutely nothing USAA.

They will gladly apologize, but USAA does absolutely nothing to assist their own customers in vast majority of issues and it is like pulling teeth in trying to resolve issues, following up or following through no matter what proof, documentation or paperwork you may have or present to them. You report fraud and you will receive an overdraft charge right after. I was informed USAA was such a great bank institution but as you stay you will endure issue behind issue behind issue and second guess "how much they protect their customer" in matter beyond your control.

You will be inconvenienced by USAA more than the actual crook who did it and you will be treated as if the accident were *automatically* your fault.

100 words wont cut it. Opened account. applied for Car loan. approved. had to open checking account to transfer funds, they opened two. funds were never deposited. sent me a check. Live in Colombia. Check in Dollars is worthless. Then they cancelled the whole loan. took 3 weeks, and another 5 weeks to receive debit cards. applied for credit card. approved. Called to make sure correct address, guaranteed mailed to correct address. mailed not one but two credit cards to the wrong address. While talking about cancelling the cards and sending a new one, I receive an email asking me to be patient with the mail since in Colombia for a card they never mailed. IDIOTS. and that's not even the half of it

USAA has horrible customer service. I was applying for a home loan and got denied 2 days before closing.

Micheal Johnson was suppose to be the person to handle that for me but would never answer his phone. In the 50 days it took to get denied he only called me back twice and emailed me a couple times.

He should lose his job for not doing his job at all. USAA sucks majorly I am so pissed at them right now.
