USAA in Plainsboro Center, New Jersey - The bank held money that I desparately needed

I deposited a check for $4000 dollars that I desparately needed and they held a portion of the funds. They wouldn't stop processing the check or lift the hold for five days. I even tried talking to their "Executive Resolutions Team" which turned out to be another person that just wasn't willing to help me. Had I known that they would have held my money, I would never have depsoited it with them. I'll just tell everyone that ever asks about military banking to never go through USAA. Congratulations USAA. I talk to a lot of people every year. Tootles.

Its common to hold checks. Just because you have the "I Want it now" Mentality, doesn't mean its right.

Show some patience and don't put yourself into deliberate financial trouble. :roll

Many decades ago I used USAA while in the military. However, customer service got so bad that I finally went elsewhere.

They are no longer the first choice of knowing military personnel. Just don't go with Bank Of America. JP Morgan Chase is good for military members.

That being said: holding checks is very common and perfectly reasonable.

The bank needs to verify that the check is good and the funds available before they give you the money. What happens if they give you $4K and it turns out the check bounces?

You would have the bank's money and they would have to take you and whomever to court to try and recoup their loss. You are wrong on this one.

Since you are driving to the Springs can I assume you currently reside in Colorado? If that is true and if they have in fact placed your account into collections, check to see if they sent you a 30, 60, 90 day notice of your past due debt AND per Colorado law a registered letter stating your account is now in collections.

If you are in collections and did not receive that registered letter you can dispute the validity of debt with agencies who will remove the entry due to no proof.

This is not legal/financial advise and non payment on collections may result in loss of the ability to use the USAA.com website as well as receive credit from them again.

USAA in San Antonio, Texas - Prevented Fraud

I have been banking with USAA for several years. I have never had an issue with them and calling into their service line has always been a great experience. I always get a helpful representative who speaks english and is able to resolve my questions and transactions. Recently, USAA was able to identify a possible fraudulant transaction on my credit card statement and called me to verify. The representative was able to help me determine which charges were legitimate and which ones were not. From there, they were able to reverse the fraudulant transaction. I couldn't ask for more...

I work for USAA's Fraud department. Just remember - any fraudulent charges are ZERO liability! Thats why USAA is the best!

USAA's is not trustworthy

I've had people straight out lie to me, I've got different stories from talking to one department to the next, I've been hung up on, I've spent a total of about 6 hours on the phone trying to get my Credit Card and Bank Account corrected, I've had to verify accounts online twice. I do not understand how this company has any good reviews. After being with this bank for under a month it has become clear that they can not be trusted with my money. I am closing my account and cancelling the credit card I just got with them.

Usaa, messed me up on banking with them.

i had banking with usaa and had an car loan also there, about 5 years ago. so i traded cars at dealer, usaa call me and said the title wasnt clear. i told the lady she needed to call dealer, were i had got my new car. it wasnt my trouble it was theres. so the next week my check from my work was on direct dep. my check goes in and i had 0 in bank, this goes on week after week with me not even writing an check on account. after 7 weeks of this, with my check going in and 1700.00 lost i closed my account.by it took me 3 months to get it closed out. i took this to my e-7 , i was in service for 20 yrs, but they done me in. i still think it was over the interest they lost on my car trade. it was to the pennie the interest on the car i had financed with them. no joke. i closed checking account finally, they didnt what to close it. just kept trying to screw me. the army couldnt help me at all. what they done was bounce the checks before money when in bank. saying i done it. no carloans or checking here

Agree with first commenter, this post doesn't make sense and jumps around terribly without cohesion. Also, since this person was in 20 years that would put them around 37 years old at least and this is the best they could come up with?

Poor grammar, spelling, flow' everything.

Also, it's *** to say that USAA took $1700 from your account over "thhe interest they lost on your car.". It's fine to be upset about a company, but please don't slander them without actual evidence of wrong doing, just what you "still think" happened.

This review makes no sense. You can't sell a car without clear title.

The lender does not take a loss on a car trade unless the borrower cheated them. Learn some basic grammar and then rewrite the review.

I had a similar experience. The information I provided over the phone was completely garbled by the time it was printed on the app.

I called to correct these gross errors and USAA said "Okay, I will change them if you really want". Two weeks later he called and was still using the old incorrect data. One week before the closing he says it will be "close" as to whether we get approved...long after telling us no sweat and ignoring three major income sources.

We were not sure of approval until the actual day of closing. What a nightmare.

USAA- The best!

Love USAA insurance and banking products! They are truly the best. I've been with them since 1993 and have never been so well treated and received such quality products and pricing from any other. Very pleased! (No, I don't work for them nor do I know anyone who does). Honestly and A+++ company who cares about their products, service, and clients. I appreciate their quality products, service, and pricing. And, like the fact that if I need to speak to one of their representatives, I can actually understand them! Thank you USAA. I gladly recommend you! You have proven you are the Best!

I've had USAA since 1965 and I couldn't be more pleased--they were there for me when a moving company wrecked all of our belongings and were there for a couple of other claims for home and auto. Even when my credit card number was stolen last year--they promptly handled everything. I think they are absolutely the best company.
