USAA Home Mortgage Process is broken!

I wish I would have seen your complaint before I started the loan process with USAA but like you, I didn't even consider that USAA would provide such horrible service. I have been using USAA for 15 years for ALL of my banking and insurance needs but I am seriously considering leaving them after this experience. They took weeks to get the appraisal back to us and then gave us 2 days to meet the conditions of the appraisal. They have pushed the closing date twice now without my input and today they told me that they had to push the close date past my interest rate lock date and I will be charged a fee. I am waiting on them and they are going to charge me a fee????? I told them to close my application and transfer my VA appraiser to a local lender. The most frustrating part this entire time has been that nobody at USAA will try to help me - I am just told there is nothing they can do about it.

USAA in Tualatin, Oregon - Unrelenting mailers.

I signed up 3 years ago with USAA and found them to be a super hassle. I had to open a banking account just to receive coverage. The customer service was poor after opening these accounts. and the coverage was not as good as what I already had. Since then, I have made it clear to USAA that I do NOT want any further correspondence. I have returned junk mail and asked them to removed me from their mailing list. Still to this day the junk mail continues. This is a waste of paper, and accomplishes nothing in that I will not change my mind and buy insurance from USAA.

USAA fails miserably on multiple fronts

​I used to brag about USAA as my insurance provider. Now I actively campaign against them. I will try to keep this short. I applied for a mortgage and paid for an interest rate "lock". When the time came for closing, the interest rate for the loan went up 3/8 of a % point. When I asked USAA about it, they said that mortgage rates had gone up. I worked at Fannie Mae at the time, and I KNOW that they went down. Good-bye to USAA banking. ​I was hit by another car, and USAA did next-to-nothing to help with the claim. After weeks of trying to get hold of the right person at USAA, I contacted the other driver's insurance company. They said that the had a check for USAA, that they had told USAA about it 6 weeks ago, and that USAA would not even tell them where to send the check! After all of that USAA nearly doubled MY insurance rates - for 3 years. I asked why, and they said that insurance rates had gone up in northern VA. I asked others who insured with USAA, and they said that their rates had not gone up. After 3 years, my rates went back down again. I asked USAA why they went down, and they said that the accident of 3 years ago had been charged to me!! Good-bye to USAA auto insurance. ​I had a pipe burst in my house, flooding the kitchen and basement. USAA said that they were closed for the 3-day weekend, and to call them back on Tuesday. I fixed the pipe myself, and their clean-up crew came out on Tuesday to clean up and dry up. That was the last good thing that happened. USAA sent a check to me for $5000, made out to a contractor. The contractor told me to pay them up front. I said "no. The check indicates that I should give it to you when the work is done." The contractor never returned calls after that. I spent 4 weeks calling them and USAA - neither of whom returned my calls. So I did the work myself. I told USAA about it, and they re-issued the check to me..... for $2500. I asked why it was lower, and they said "because you are not a GC". I was livid. USAA screwed up by the numbers, obliged me to spend 60 hours repairing the work, and then rewarded themselves for such horrid service?!?!? I have stopped using them altogether, and actively campaign against them when/where I can.

Pulltype, I can assure you that after 17yrs with USAA I cancelled my auto policy with them today and is moving my direct deposit, investments and all other insurance as soon as I can get it accomplished. I have spoken with a few friends that have been with them for more than 15yrs and a few have left within the past 6 months.

My complaint is below. I have only dealt with them as a customer never worked for them nor did they deny me approval for a loan.

USAA my insurance company for my vehicle canceled my policy two months ago by accident and as a result I ended up with a suspended license and no coverage. I discovered this by accident Thursday evening from a police officer friend of mine. I called USAA livid and they apologized and back dated my policy and gave me a letter explaining the mess up.

I spent almost 2 hrs at DMV 3 days after getting out the hospital to get this issue resolved. I did cancel my policy with USAA after 17yrs of having them once I found a policy 2 days later. In April I discovered that my daughter's car that I purchased and called USAA in Jan 2014

to add was not added because they failed to do the final processing. They are on a roll messing their customers over lately.

Do you know they sent a bill for the two months they didn't provide me coverage?

The explanation is they would have covered any accidents had it occurred so they are owed that amount. Am I crazy for thinking no way I am paying?

They backdated your policy. They are covering you for the time you believe you had no coverage.

They have verified with the letter that you would have been covered had you had a loss. This is what saved you from a continuation of a suspended license and high fines. You owe for the time you are being provided coverage. This is a simple concept.

I can't believe you want them to cover you and for free. Seriously?

USAA is a loan shark to veterans

Due to VA withholding my disability benefits I was unable to keep up with my USAA car loan and insurance. I informed USAA in first week of Dec when I will be able to start and catch up on payments. the next week the towed my car and locked my out of my online banking account limiting my access to mobile only. Fastforward to Jan, i had to move from San Marcos to San Antonio to stay with friends because I lost my apt. I called USAA about getting tools and equipment from my car only to get the run around but the Debt Collection Office. The (unknown female) wanted me to pay the full amount of what I own on my loan. No payments. I told that was not going to happen and that I can only do payment pays and she was reluctant to give me the information that I needed and in informed me that my car was sold. I called again the follow month, February, to talk about paying off my debt with USAA and to lift the access restrictions to my account. Again, unknown female, refused to except a payment pay, refused to lift any restrictions on my account and told me that the access I had on my mobile phone (app) had all the features of the website. She refused to listen to my reasons to why I need a payment option and told me "we all have problems" and stonewalled me from speaking to anyone else. In the months that passed I have not been about update my address with USAA over the phone nor use any of the feature site products. The normal customer service run into account code errors and are unable to help me. Sister site products like USAA secure card applications have to be mailed to me and go to the old address taking weeks to months to find me. And mail notices like the information that I could in fact get a payment plan to pay my debt didn't find me until 3 months after the face. The very month of February when I called. All of my information has been forward to debt collectors when we could of settled this in January. This debt has been post to my credit report and if I do pay the collectors USAA losses will show up on my tax returns causing me to pay the IRS the same lump sum difference all at once. This was a purposeful targeted act. No where on the mobile app did this information show up. Past debts like USAA car insurance (which I paid off in February) still shows up as unpaid. This is beyond wrong and its time USAA be held accountable for its actions.

I went through that as an employee, and at CLOSING...USAA was asking for the SAME documents that had been faxed previously...they held my closing up because they couldn't FIND the file...are you kidding me???? Then they sold me off to GMAC (after MONTHS of propaganda on the floor about how they wouldn't DO that anymore-it was gonna stay in house, serviced in house too many problems with PHH, never again..blah, blah.

So I believed them and got the loan, and then they sold it...I couldn't believe it) Now I am with the green tree llc servicing which is the WORST.

I will NEVER, EVER, EVER use the mtg loan dept again, because it is plagued with incompetence. But then USAA is much different these days...oh, right they are worse than they use to be.

USAA in Weatherford, Texas - Worst customer service in history!

USAA neglected repeatedly to put my auto insurance on auto-draft thus leading to them saying my payment was never received. Then they say they want payment in full for my 6 month policy. So I drop them like a bad habit and move on to a company that actually cares about it's customers (Progressive) now USAA says I am locked out of my accounts because they want money for the insurance policy. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. There screw up and now I can't use my online banking? I remember a time where USAA was the most customer friendly bank around now I would have to say they are the worst. Every person I know says the same thing about them. I have not talked to one person that actually likes them anymore.

I too am locked out of my bank account and cannot use deposit mobile because I am in the process of filing bankruptcy. I find it deplorable that we are punished with iur bank account when USAA doesn't like something we do that has NOTHING to do with our bank account.

I am considering talking to my attorney about filing a lawsuit regarding thi issue. Just doesn't seem right!

we have usaa and in feb of 2013 direct tv took a lot of money out of our account. I was on the phone all day with usaa. I was talked down to and was told that they are there to help direct tv...by the end of the day I finally received a call and was told in a not so nice way that they will give the money back and direct tv has 60 days to supply them with a contract stating that we gave them permission to take the money out of our account...well 87 days later they did it again...mmmm 17 days pasted the 60 days....was on the phone all daya again with usaa and was told that they have a contract that was not signed and sided with direct tv....after this pay period we will be going to a different bank....oh yeah we canceled service within out allotted time with direct tv.....usaa give us our money back

That is total BS. I'm getting fed up with USAA.

They were great until I filed bankruptcy, then all I could get was the mobile version of the website. Now they changed their policy and I can't even deposit a check through mobile. WTF? They think I'm going to try to deposit a bogus check or something.

As for your situation they really have you by the balls.

I wouldn't send a copy of my SS card ever.

I usually won't even let doctors or employers take a photocopy. :(

I've had the same issues with deposits, and he same BS about not being able to lift holds. Not sure what benefit they get from holding funds, but it is financially damaging and seems totally random and anti-customer behaviour.
