I was with USAA for 11 years. I hit a deer and I had to travel to Canada. My adjuster was Kansas Henderson (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kansas-henderson-3b768693). At the time I did not have an international calling plan. So I had her schedule the calls so I could use Google Voice after three times of this unprofessional not answering the scheduled calls and then no ability to get ahold of her management. I dropped USAA. Any company that would keep this kind of un professional on board is not a company I will do business with.

Made a claim September 9th 2019. Usaa tried to total my car for a little fender bender, then proceeded to lose my keys, lose my car, screw up at every chance they had. Talked to the head of customer service and that *** couldnt give me one good reason why I should stay a customer. In short I feel totally let down by a company who profits off of veterans ( big shock ) and treats them like garbage!

Have not received a call or e-mail from USAA. I'm not at all surprised.

This is indicative of their behavior toward most military members.USAA is NOT Military Friendly.

I truly hope all potential USAA customers read this before gaining membership. Trust me...it will change your mind.

Nearly 10 years ago I mistakenly added my soon-to-be step-son on to my USAA auto insurance. He was added about 5 days prior to me actually marrying his mother. Just so happened he got in a car accident 2 days prior our marriage and he put in a claim to USAA. The representative noted that he was not actually eligible to be covered under my policy since his mother and I weren't married until 2 days later. USAA dropped me from my insurance and cancelled my checking account without even allowing me to plead my case. I am a 27-year retired Air Force veteran and they treated me like I was a "criminal". They wouldn't even give me the respect of allowing me to plead my case. It's 12 years later and they still would not allow me to plead my case so I can use their services again. They continue to treat me disrespectfully and refuse to answer my questions. VERY RUDE and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Go to Geico or some other organization. USAA is NON military-friendly!

First of all, do not go to Geico. Remember, it stands for Government Employees Insurance Company and is staffed by the same robots as USAA.

Find insurance with a local agent you can sit down and talk to and to whom you can go to when you need advice or help.

These big insurance companies that have large call centers are not the place to go for good customer service. Ask around with friends, etc.

Had a wreck. They totaled the car. They have not paid and I was trying to decide my next step. Within a couple of days They then took it from the body shop WITHOUT my permission. Took/sold it to copart in another state. I had an aftermarket radio installed in the car. They will not pay for the value of the radio. Told me I could pay to have a professional remove it and they would also lower the value even though I told them I had the stock premium radio. I feel like the car was stolen as well as the radio that was a birthday gift from my wife.

My daughter was hit by a USAA insured. They totaled the car. then only gave her days to get paperwork to them to get her money. The paperwork that was supposed to be overnighted took 3 days to arrive. But they demanded that she return the rental. leaving her without a ride. Didn't matter that the paperwork was late. Then they told us there was a lean on the car and that we had more hoops to jump through. Not happy with this company. I had an Esurance guy hit me 2 years ago and it was handled easily and I had all the information I needed.

They did not submit all of the evidence which was based on the timing of my accident photos. I was constantly ignored. I had to gather and put together all of the evidence myself. They didn't even do their own investigation. I did not receive a fair arbitration trial.

Switched from USAA to Geiconakd saved but in the process found out they listed an at fault accident on my daughter back in 2016. No wonder iur rates seemed to almost double. She was traveling on the freeway at night and hit a BBQ pit that had fallen out of another vehicle. She did not see it until she got right up to it. There were concrete construction barriers up at the time amd still are. They said she could have avoided it. How? By hitting another car or the barrier? Far less damage was done with the BBQ pit. Maybe hitting it saved her life. Long story short they refused to take it off so i have been paying elevated rates now for 3 years. They are supposed to be in the business of helpin veterans. BS! Good riddens.

USAA Simply Denies Claims as their Business Model

I tried to exit out of a McDonalds' drive-thru lane. McDonalds' had placed a large concrete block with no vertical markers indicating it's presence to drivers, yet it was just tall enough to do damage to my bumper. The drive-through lane was packed with cars, so the stupid block was not visible even when I wasn't right next to it. I talked to the manager, who said that the restaurant had place the block there because long-haul trucks were doing damage to their ordering kiosk. In other words, a haphazard method that McDonalds' used for their own benefit, instead of correctly fixing the problem of damage from long-haul trucks, which would of course cost McDonalds' money. Better to just put a haphazard block in the way, and who cares if it damages cars! And, the block was not approved as part of the building plan for the McDonalds. First I filed with McDonalds' insurer, who made a decision on the claim before they even got any pictures or evidence (surprise!). But USAA did the same thing, they made a decision on it before they even saw pictures of the accident scene! How can that be honest business practices? You make a decision with no evidence? Of course, McDonalds' policy is to simply deny any liability for anything (remember the coffee incident, for which McDonalds' ended up being liable?). So USAA did the same thing, simply blamed me for the damage to my truck. So, here is their business model: 1) blame the insured for everything, so if it is repaired, then at least the insured pays a major share of it; and 2) by blaming the insured, USAA prompts the insured to not get it fixed because of the cost of the deductible, thereby saving them any claims out. On top of that, when I called in about the accident, the guy on the phone accused me of lying, insinuating that it was my son that was driving the truck. I asked USAA to provide me with voice file of that conversation, and they denied it. How can that be? I'm on that call, that's my voice, my property. USAA is GROSS!.

My bill was due on the 15th of every month. I paid it on the 23rd. (Within my ten day grace period) they added a bogus five dollar late fee on the 24th and cancelled the policy. USAA - Extremely poor service and response

A deer jumped across the road and damaged my hood and grill. I had read negative reviews about USAA totaling cars and paying only a portion of the replacement value so I called first and talked with a representative. The rep assured me that I could withdraw the claim at any time without consequence. I took the car in to their authorized shop and, of course they wanted to fix and repair everything, even things not involved in the accident. I received a call from USAA saying my car was a total loss along with an unfounded rationale about why they were only going to pay me 60% of the replacement value. I declined the settlement and told them I was withdrawing my claim and would repair the car at my personal expense. They told me they were going to send the state a notification that the car was salvaged even if I repaired it at my own expense. I fought with them and sent a estimate from another shop for considerably less. I heard nothing from them afterward. I had the car completely repaired and then I spontaneously got a notification that they wanted an independent estimator to see the car. He saw it the day it went to the paint shop. Despite write and phone requests no one has responded to my requests for information.

USAA is an expensive, over-rated rip off. We have been members for over 30 years. My daughter had her first accident. On an icy road, she slip into a pole. No exaggeration here: my premium double because, and I quote: "She is your daughter, so you and her BOTH get surcharged." Crooks. We are leaving USAA by end of this week. I don't see how they get the ratings they do. They DO NOT have a personal, caring touch for their customers. And to think, I've been with them for over 30 years, and my father in law served in the armed forces. Very sad.
