The tow bar bracket and lighting harness on a 4 wheels down towed vehicle totaled in an accident has a value of $0 per USAA. My recommendation is that if you tow a vehicle 4 wheels down - check your insurance to see that your towing package is covered with some value. My replacement vehicle cost $1000+ to have the tow package installed. And if your insurance company is USAA, beware.

USAA - Downhill experience

First of all when we had an accident due to someone else's fault (who was also insured with USAA) the adjuster I talked to was horrible and said the most unbelievable things. I was just in shock that he was supposed to be on our team and yet he said things that were unbelievable about a situation he didn't witness or know anything about. I mean he even commented about the lighting of the area and he lives in another part of the country so how would he know this. I recently found out that if you sign up for insurance with USAA today - the premiums are very high compared to others that already have USAA. Time to move on from this company and all the promises of taking care of military families.

CCC Information Services - Low Ball Vehicle Evaluation and Non Substantion of Estimates

I am having the same experience with USAA with CCC ONE evaluation of my car, a 2013 Ford CMAX SE. I have been told by USAA that they do not pay for the profit when a Car Dealer sells the car. USAA when asked to substantiate the profits on these cars that CCC ONE used for determining the value basis for my car they refused. They devalue my car for its condition. Of course this is after the accident and then the devalued values are very high. Case in point is CCC ONE appraisers observation of slightly discolored transmission fluid reduced the value of my car estimate by $593. Ford recommends to change the transmission fluid at 150000 miles. My car had 100,215 miles. I submitted advertised same year and model that were for sale and sold within a month of my car accident that were significantly higher in value. USAA nor CCC ONE considered this data. I totally agree with the author of this document that the CCC ONE does not evaluate cars reasonably and USAA supports totally their evaluation. I agree with the authors recommendation of not using any insurance company using CCC ONE to evaluate car values.

Not sure what the poster expects here. Sounds like the vehicle was either low on oil or coolant and the engine locked up and threw a rod. Auto insurance does not cover repairs.

Get a quote from another insurance company, but this time actually sit down and talk to a local insurance agent, not talk to someone from one of these online companies. Just think: if you are having trouble with the rates now, what problems will you have when/if you have to file a claim for something? Talking to someone in a far-off place rather than sitting down with them in a local office seems precarious, to say the least.

USAA - Fraud

Usaa told me my insurance was going to go down after my policy renews and when my policu renewed i went from paying 246 for my wife and my self to 515 and they tried to tell me its because i got 3 red light tickets over a year and a half ago. Other then that i havent been in a accident i javent got a dui nothing. Its usually a pleasure to have them but im pretty sure im done with them.

USAA has no problem in taking your money but in time of need they seem to vanish quick

In late February 2018 I was in a 2010 Ford Focus sitting at a light the next thing I heard was tires squealing and a very hard impact which in turn made me hit the vehicle in front of me. I was taken to the hospital in Olympia Wa St. Peters and was there all day long with them doing test on me and xrays. I have full coverage with USAA even paying for 50,000 PIP coverage. I have been paying since 2009 with no accidents. After my hospital time I was able to get information the person that hit me was uninsured and suspended driver license. I talked to USAA and they notified me that my car was a total lost and they arranged a rental car for a week. I received the rental car but did not received any payment for the lost of my car until about two weeks after I was forced to turn in my rental car. That left me with no way to get back and forth to my medical appointments or work. I asked for an extension as I never received any monies for my wrecked vehicle. I was turned down so had to figure out a way to get to my appointments. This was nothing but a major hardship and for the years I paid into USAA I seen their commercials showing how great they are but in Reality their just like any other insurance Company if you get in an accident. I have been going to a Chiropractor and Physical therapy to try and get better. Knowing I paid into a PIP plan they should pay the Chiropractor and Physical therapy. Well was I ever wrong they paid for about 2 months of being seen and then just stopped paying even know I still had over 30000 of PIP left. They stated I didn't need the medical help I am seeking as their doctor told them that even know their doctor never even seen me just read my hospital visit. Lucky I am a Veteran so I was able to go to the VA for my medical care that I need and had multiple MRI done and also had multiple injections due to pain. The MRI showed I do in fact have medical issues that require me to see specialty doctors multiple times. Now if I would of went on the outside for the treatment I would have huge doctor bills to pay due to USAA denying payment. I did about 3 months later going to the Hospital find out that USAA didn't even cover that whole bill so I am stuck with paying monies for my hospital visit after my accident. This caused me to have to get an Attorney to fight my own insurance just so I can get the medical help I need. I am racking up bills with Physical Therapy and Chiropractic and not sure what the bill is with the VA. I am not happy with USAA in its handling with one of their own in time of need like they show on the commercials or the radio I still am currently attending all my medical and I gave the owing money from the Hospital to the VA due to it was an auto accident they said they would cover the owing cost that USAA should of paid but didn't out of the PIP I have been paying on every year.

USAA told me one thing and did another and raised my car insurance after I was assured I was paying a low rate. Then cost me overdraft fee on an account that I specifically said don’t draft account. Then tell me don’t worry we will pay you back only to have a person to call and tell me I can not get my money back. I will be leaving this insurance company soon as I find another. They have no honor or integrity.

USAA - New car ( Mercedes) never put on policy after purchase.

May 2017 - purchased new car and therefore, added and confirmed insurance at dealership before driving away. USAA representative had great difficulty performing the task. Upon receiving my statement I discovered that the new car had never been added to the policy. I was driving uninsured. I’ve was a 44 year customer with NO claims but, no more.

Sorry for your difficulties with yur carrier! However, there is generally coverage for 30 days by most companies when purchasing a new vehicle.

If you didn't receive a insurance certificate within a week of so after the purchase you really should have called them again! I would never fully trust just a phone call on coverage.

USAA - 25+ years paying premiums then lied to and treated horribly

After a total loss of a car, I received an estimate for the value of the car, and of course they subtracted the deductible ($1000). A low estimate, for sure, but not ridiculous. Then they docked $500 because of some dings in the car. But those dings were from previous damage that I'd never claimed- so I felt USAA should either pay me on those previous claims, or re-instate the $500. I called and was told that if I filed those previous claims, that it would not impact the total loss settlement amount. That was a lie. Instead, for two claims, they gave me a small check ($400, for a $1400 damage I believe minus deductible for one, and the other was about $1000 so zero after the deductible). Then they subtracted $2400 from the total loss offered. They told me this over the phone. When I asked for it in writing, I heard nothing back. For months. With repeated emails, voicemails, and live messages for other agents NOTHING IN WRITING. NO response. Finally, they responded but refuse to listen to the recording of the representative telling me that it won't impact my total loss. They seem unconcerned with fairness, customer service, or telling the truth. I have trusted USAA for more than 25 years, and used to feel that they treated me fairly but have started to see other members who say that recently they've really taken a turn for the worse. I recommend others who are trusting USAA based on experience with USAA 5 10 or more years ago to reconsider.

If you "hear" negatives about USAA on this website, they need to be taken with a huge grain of salt. Over half of the posts on the site are bogus. USAA continues to be top rated and recommended.

You could take them to court but you would have to weigh the cost of doing this. USAA not as it once was from what I hear---rates not that great compared to others and terrible customer service.

Best to shop for better insurance.

The best insurance is the one(s) where you have an actual agent in your area whom you can visit or call locally. Buying insurance from a company with nothing but a large call center staffed with foreign reps is problematical, at best.
