USAA no longer deserves to represent themselves as a company for Veterans. Just read their reviews. Ive been a member for 28 years and am now pulling out wverything but life insurance. GOD I hope I dont die. Had an auto accident in December 2016. As of April 2017 we have yet to receive reimbursement. Communication is poor. They have played games throughout the whole process and have now agreed in words only to pay a very small portion of the money needed to repair the car. Got hit by a huge city bus and they can't understand the damage and say they see rust on a well-kept Florida car that is rust-free. They insult your intelligence and stick together internally no matter how high you go. They say the police report only notes damage in rear quarter. Sad to see a former pillar becoming dust. Will be sending a letter to Florida Insurance Commissioner and Senator.

Well, the reviews on this website are not bogus. I can attest based on personal experience.

1).

I was rear ended in 2011. Somehow USAA agreed with the other insurance company and found me 20% liable - for somebody rear ending me? So I had to pay $100 of the deductible - and it took them over a year to settle the claim. If somebody rear ends me, how is that my fault?

I was rear ended in stop and go traffic on the freeway. The guy behind me wasn't paying attention.

2). I closed my accounts with them. I needed copies of my statements.

I could have gotten them online but they closed my online account access. They wanted to charge me $10 for each statement copy (6 accounts - 8 years - 12 months each year - do the math). The cost would have been over $5,500 for the statement copies - and they wanted me to mail in payment first. It would have been cheaper for them to either turn on the online access for me to get them or for them to put them on a drive for me.

Either way - they wanted a lot of money for statement copies.

3). They misapplied a loan payment - one they took over the phone from an external bank account. It took them over two weeks to locate it - and only after I had our attorney write a letter. We provided them the cancelled check - yet they still could not locate the payment until I had an attorney get involved.

There is more...but trust me. The reviews are not bogus. They are representative of what USAA is becoming. Go to Navy Federal - they are open to all Veterans now.

Much better service. More personalized.

Ratings are paid for or just like tests run for pharmaceuticals, they are altered, or you've been one of the lucky ones to get one of the claims people who are still there at USAA who haven't had lobotomies or are contractors, not employees. During my "claim" one of those wonderful people USAA used to have talking to members contacted me and I thought things were going to get better, but they apparently shoved her aside and I still had the cold big-city fish to deal with!

Odd you mentioned sarcastic and that is exactly what my USAA auto claims agent Jackie Johnston was...she kept saying little jabs until I called her a sarcastic b****!! Then Kept on going with her remarks.

Sadly her supervisor Melinda was just as bad and even lied and said she heard the whole conversation. I asked "then as a supervisor why did you not intervene when she was so disrespectful to me"...still have yet to hear from Melinda's supervisor but I will be placing many calls until my claim gets handled correctly or yes I will be involving a lawyer!

21 years and absolutely no loyalty or quality service! I've already started switching my other services effective immediately after reading multiple reviews that are absolutely disgraceful!!!

I am not insured with USAA, I have allstate! But an insured by USAA hit our parked car and USAA refused to fix all the damage. The car didnt have one scratch on it before it was hit. They only fixed the front end and i had pictures and did all the work fir them. Even got them several estimates. I would say that USAA is a bunch of lying criminals. I am annoyed with USAA, too. I'm a 40+-year member, but when my car was recently hit from behind at a stop light, I called them and got horrible service. They assigned me to an adjuster in a different time zone, even though I live within 10 miles of their headquarters, and the adjuster never got it touch with me. I had to make over 30 calls to correct problems they caused, like assigning me to a repair shop far from my home without even asking me. It's a good company in some ways and a mediocre one in other ways. Too bad its customer service is dropping so much -- they're no longer a great company to work with.

I have a car that collision works gave a estimate of 7,400 to be fixed which USAA wants to total. They had a charge of $954 for a distribution box that they were not replacing according to the list of items they stated needed ordering. They were replacing 2 items that did not need replacing that were $362 @ $628. When we went to pick up car they threw items in the seats, threw broken headlight in with glass all over the floorboard. I am sending a letter to their corporate office @reporting them to BBB. (There may be more unnecessary items, these were the ones pointed out by our new auto body shop.)
