I'm purchasing a home with cash. The seller wishes to have a letter stating that I have sufficient funds to cover the purchase price.

I figured this should be easy. I called USAA and they said they can provide a letter with my total account balance, I said I don't want my entire balance on it, just the sentence saying that I have sufficient funds to cover the purchase price. They instructed me that they can't do this! They can't write a letter with one sentence.

I asked to speak with a supervisor and the agent said "they are just going to tell you the same thing", I stated then I would like to hear them tell me this as well. She was correct, Ron #K1191 did in fact tell me the same nonsense, that they cant write a letter. He could produce the same account balance letter exposing how much funds I have to a person I am in negations with, not the best idea. I asked to speak to his manager and he told me the same line "they will just tell you the same thing" and it will take anywhere from 24 hours to 48 hours to do so.

This is unacceptable! Banks make money off of our money. They are supposed to work for us not the other way around. They are supposed to enable us not hinder us.

USAA has fallen for the last 10 years on customer service and I feel they will continue to fall. All of my colleagues agree.

I have written letters about poor customer service in all the areas that they provide service in and have not received any feed back from any of them or seen any changes. I plan on closing all of my accounts and finding another bank to do business with.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

USAA Pros: Dislike usaa.

USAA Cons: Customer service.

Location: 9800 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, TX 78288, USA

Think bigger. A letter stating you have sufficient funds leaves them wide open as qualifying you for the purchase.

If they write the letter and you decide to spend the money before the closing, they can now be exposed to legal consequences by the seller. They will not do that. They can only give facts.

Your banking balance is a fact.

You having sufficient funds is not a fact. They do not know your other obligations. No, the bank is not there to be manipulated by you.

They provide a very limited and regulated service. You are being unreasonable.

Their refusal seems reasonable to me and this makes you unreasonable. How about quitting them and going to a monster mega bank? Good riddance to you.

Anonymous in Idyhoe, you are a sincere ***. The initial anonymous posted a very goof response! Too bad someone from USAA couldn't do that.
