Russian workers

I just think everyone should know that USAA contracts with a paintless dent repair company to repair your hail damaged vehicle that employees only Russian technicians. The company name is Hi-Tech Paintless Dent Repair. USAA forces body shops that are direct repair facilities for them to use the Russians. It is really sad that USAA, a company insuring our American military would not support our American workforce. Instead, they take the hard earned money of our great military and send it to another countries workforce that many of which are over here illegally working on student visas. They will continue to do this if Americans don't stand up to them.

He's not saying immigrants should not get work, he's saying that Russians here on student visas, that don't attend any school, are being paid minimum wages and ruining a professional market by driving the prices down and taking jobs from Americans. And for "USA"A, they ought to be ashamed for allowing this to happen to save a dollar.

#728624

Or how you know all of this, or why it's important? Are you saying immigrants shouldn't get work?

it would be helpful if you atleast posted where this is occuring.

USAA horrible customer service

I have three accounts associated with my name, two checking and one savings. We are an active duty army family stationed at Fort Hood. I deposited a state issued check from the Comptroller's office for $32,129.00 dollars on Sunday October 5, 2013, that posted on the 6th. Before I made the deposit I checked USAA deposit rules and policies and read that checks issued by state and federal agencies would be subject to a two day hold. I called the bank on the 7th. for my deposit status and the recording said that my funds were on hold until the 8th. which was in keeping with the deposit rules that I read. I then wrote two thousand dollars worth of checks to my creditors. Today, the 8th. I checked my bank account again and saw that there was still a hold on my account and called the bank. I was told that the hold would be in effect until the 18th. because I had 24, insufficient funds within the last year therefore the funds would remain on hold and that nothing could be done about the checks that I had written based on the status update that I had received on the 7th. It was suggested that I wire money to my account for the checks that I had written because USAA would not release the funds. I was devastated. I am crying now as I write this email. I asked the representative, and executive resolution person on three separate calls would I be responsible for the insufficient funds charges and was told, "yes." I am so angry, unhappy, embarrassed, incredulous, and feel small and dishonest. I worked for the federal government (have a secret security clearance) and state of Texas and within the last 3 months two of my paychecks were places on holds. I do not understand how your bank can tell me one date on the 7th. and a different later date on the 8th. It is dishonest and "backdoor" to treat me that way. I would not have written any checks on the account had I known that my funds would not be accessible for two weeks. I am appealing to you to please give me some relief. Please release my funds so that I can meet my obligations. I will no longer do business with this low down bank. They now have 32k of my money for two weeks to use while I will incurr bounced check charges.

I understand holding funds for 3 business days---rather a standard practice across financial institutions, but 24 DAYS! WTF.

#731048

That is a sizable paycheck to have an empty bank account. I write checks after funds are available. When I make deposits over 10k the IRS is notified.

#727406

24 insufficient funds in a year is a lot. I don't know any bank that isn't going to hold a check that large til they get the funds for it on an account with that many insufficient funds fees.

Bad Home Loan USAA / Wells Fargo, high closing costs

USAA for a VA loan has high closing costs and poor customer service. They were not upfront with their high closing costs. The people that we dealt with were pushy and took too long. They wanted us to submit documents that we already sent and received email confirmation. The salesperson threatened us that he would contact his manager and cancel our application on Veterans day! Wells Fargo, the underwriter had too many frivolous requirements. We used a local mortgage company to process our VA loan and the closing costs were $2,500 less. The local company was faster and polite too.

Homeowner's Insurance

Hail damaged my house in April. It is now almost October and I have finally been told that the siding has an "exclusion" regarding matching, so only one side of the house will have the siding replaced, even though the siding no longer is manufactured and the selected siding will not match the rest of the house. I will update this if they change their mind, but at this time, I will have to pay for 3/4 of the cost of siding the house, due to "matching". Please read your policy very closely! I wish I had known about this! And to top it off, I pay $1,800 annually, and just got a quote for less than $1,000.

sadly as a USAA policy holder....this company is falling in line with all the other big Insurance companies and leaving its roots and mantra of taking care of those who have served.....its all about profits and not paying out claims. very disappointing USAA

Debt card stolen, USAA refuses to refund stolen funds

Back on August 25th I lost my wallet. I was not aware of this until my bank actually notified me. Who ever found my wallet used both an American Express card and a Debt Card. $659.88 was taken from my checking account using a debt card. $158 was taken using the American Express credit card. I had the cards reported stolen and attempted to file a police report, but needed a signed affidavit signed from the bank to report the wallet since it was lost. The bank refunded the loss from the credit card, but refuses to refund the loss from the debit card. They are telling me that no fraud occurred since a pin number was used to gain access to my funds. I did not give a pin to anyone, I am the only one on my account and the only one who has access to my card or pin. I am single 100% disabled veteran. I have no idea who or how access to my PIN was gained. I am a victim. This same thing happened in the past and my money was refunded. At this point I will be looking for a new bank and will never use a debt card again. All my transactions will be cash if possible. Now USAA is making me another victim as well.

USAA scamming peopel with "teaser" rates that no one every qualifies for.

USAA scamming peopel with "teaser" rates that no one every qualifies for.
Currently their website states 1.9-2.9% on used car loans. I went to get a loan and they refused to offer me that rate. They instead only offered 9.45% and made up excusses that the computer system says that is all I qualify for. I have a 744 credit score. WTF? I had the same issue with credit card from them. I am going to look to swtich to a new bank asap. I even called and spoke with them and it got me no where. They were polite yes but honestly do not care about you at all.

Have to agree with other commenters. I just recently purchased a used 2007 Hummer and the best rate I got from other financing was 5.9%. I then immediately refinanced with USAA at 2.9% and my credit score is actually less than yours.

#728546

USAA is a great company! They have guidelines and parameters for loans/lending like any financial institution.

Lots of people qualify for the lowest rates, good credit and great credit doesn't mean excellent though.

The credit score isn't the only thing a bank looks at; it's the over all credit profile for the past several years, so pay history, debt to income ratio, and revolving credit usage all need to be in line and support the amount you ask for. The year of the collateral, amount you borrow, and term are the other things that are considered when determining what rate you qualify for.

#727349

I agree. Your credit score is your problem With that score you will not find the lowest rate from any bank.

Good luck!

#722853

As low as means that it's the lowest rate that the company offers.

"Used car loan rates as low as 1.99% with discount for 36 months or 2.25% with discount for 60 months."

Translation: The cheapest rate we offer for used car loans is 1.99% for 36 months or 2.25% for 60 months. That is the lowest possible rate they offer. That doesn't mean it is the only rate they offer. It doesn't work that way.

You have to qualify for it.

#720677

Actually, if you read the advertisement that you copied from the website, it says this:

"Used car loan rates as low as 1.99% with discount for 36 months or 2.25% with discount for 60 months."

I see nothing about "1.9-2.9%" on used car loans.

It says AS LOW AS. Meaning that's the lowest your rate could be depending on your credit history.

It's not USAA's fault you can't read.

#719086

My last vehicle loan with USAA was at 1.5% I also recently got their lowest advertised mortgage rate. A 744 credit score is not "excellent".

Mine is 815 and that is still not the best. Sounds like you (your credit rating, credit history, income, income to debt ratio ???) is the problem not USAA.

USAA: Paid but not insured??

In 2011 my parents started USAA auto ins in Oregon. In 2012 my father stopped driving and my mother called to have him removed from ins as she would be the only driver. midway through this year (2012) they moved to a new apt after 40 years at the last home. USAA could not get addres right for 4 months! 02/2013 my father passed and my mother called USAA to pay for 6 Months like she has been doing for YEARS. She told them my father passed and they told her she was NEVER covered by Ins to drive! Rates for not having ins for the previous 6 months in VERY HIGH! I am sure you could guess they wanted her to pay it, even though it was their fault. $869.90 and they discounted it to $454.37 for 6 months. She has not had an accident for 20 YEARS!!!! No TICKETS... just cuz of NO INS for 6 months. The blessing in all of this is: she did not have to claim on this policy while they did not tell her she was not a driver listed. She is very glad she did not have anyone run into her during this UNINSURED period either!!

Overseas auto loan

I was approved for a loan to buy a car in the UK. I called three times and spoke to three different representatives who confirmed that the loan could be made for the purchase of a new car in the UK. I was approved for the loan, I put a deposit down on a new car, called USAA to execute the loan , and was told they would not as the car did not meet "US specifications". The "conflict resolution" representative suggested that this might be a "coachable moment" for their staff. How nice for them ... how about my deposit? USAA banking has let me down before with promises that fell through for reasons owing to hidden conditions - I should have known better. I've been a USAA customer for 27 years, but I may have had enough.

USAA tried to extort money from me

My experience is below.Rather than complain on a Rip-Off website, email everyone you know about USAA. The internet is powerful. Ask all those you email to tell others. The truth is not libel. Feel free to send mine, as well as yours, to whoever you wish. Warn other veterans and their families. 1. February 27, 2012. My 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Classic was vandalized in Jacksonville, FL. All tires punctured. 2 windows, passenger side, broken out. I called police and USAA. The USAA said my car would be towed quickly. USAA did not tell the truth. 2. February 28 through March 7, 2012, I called USAA every day and said my car had not been towed. Each time USAA said it would be towed. 3. March 8, 2012, The apartment’s property manager had my car towed by ASAP TOWING. USAA demanded that I pay part of the fees to ASAP Towing. That was extortion or bad business judgment. I refused to pay USAA’s contracted with towing company, COUNTRYWIDE TOWING, had not performed. That was USAA’s choice, not mine. 4. My letters to Mr. Joe Roebles, CEO of USAA and every member of its Board of Directors and my phone calls to least eight (8) different USAA claims office employees were of use. 5. June 21, 2012 ASAP TOWING sold my car to pay towing and storage fees. 6. January 5, 2013, I filed a complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance. USAA is headquartered in Texas. The Texas Department of Insurance never replied. 7. June 12, 2013, I complained to the Better Business Bureau for the 2nd time. My complaint against USAA was assigned ID 958****. USAA said it had considered my complaint. That was USAA’s only defense. 8. August 26, 2013 I responded to the BBB in Austin, TX emailed me that the BBB was receiving several complaints about USAA. 9.September 2, 2013, I have been without a car for 18 months. Several attorneys I have asked to represent me a lawsuit against USAA want thousands of dollars up front. My car’s Kelley Blue Book value was $8,000.00. Why pay thousands to attorneys and get back the remaining pittance in court? Allen R. Hill USAA Policy 001469****1020 cc: USAA BBB Texas Texas Department of Insurance J.D. Powers and Associates

USAA impossible website, terrible phone & e-mail

USAA impossible to communicate with by phone or e-mail. Spent 2 hours online and on phone trying to get information on travel insurance and registering as a veteran. Paid a few bucks more to insure my upcoming trip, but worth it not to have to deal with USAA. Actually used the same company that USAA uses and they were excellent. At USAA I was never able to communicate with a real person. They even connected me to The Travelers Insurance Co. who referred me to their branch office. This is one messed up organization. Our veterans deserve better treatment. Even though I spent 2 years on active duty in the 1950's I was unable to use website to sign up with USAA and was referred to a phone number that had no options to address my sign up issues.

My car was hit while bystanding an accident between two other vehicles. Essentially the Road Hazard debris from that wreck flew into my car.

The other party driving that vehicle who is at fault is a USAA Policy holder as his dad is a Captain (unsure of which branch of Armed Forces). Long story short, it's been a couple of days now and USAA hasn't had successful contact to get the driver's side of the story whereas, the cop and the Accident Report both have it to where his party is at fault for Failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn. It's as plain and simple as day! No mystery about it.

And I don't have the patience for long and drawn out dramatics that the insurance carriers can be known to play out with the other victim parties. With my older car from a year ago, I was rear ended by a State Farm driver and the fault was accepted SAME DAY. I have the contact information for that other driver and have since reached out to have them complete this task as I'm being held up by their bastardly company on the account of their actions.

For insurance companies to treat victims in this way is clearly uncalled for especially when the decision is clearly stated on the report, front and center. This is B.S.!

USAA Mortguage Department a nightmare

Prepare for the long haul if you use USAA to refinance your home. They do not return calls or e-mails, they continually reject documents or lose them. They reject original surveys ask for more inspections, they arbitrarily change the loan type, they stringing out the closing process and generally display of a level of incompetence reserved for Socialist Utopias. Will likely follow up with a complaint to the Stats Consumer Advocate! Do not use them if you value your piece of mind and sanity. I am most unsatisfied and had I researched others complaints I would be a much happier man today.
