Ripped Off !

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was involved in an accident, where someone pulled a u-turn in front of my van, upon taking to bodyshop, "power steering pump" was found to be damaged. USAA refused to pay for same, claiming it was not accident related. Meantime inside the glove compartment of same van I have one receipt from Jiffy Lube where they flushed my power steering fluid. If pump was damaged on 30 Apr 2014, they would have not replaced fluid or at least would have mentioned to a regular customer as myself. Long story short, iT COST ME OVER $300.00 GONNA CHECK COMPARISON RATES WITH GEICO, LIBERTY MUTUAL. ETC., ETC. !!!!!!!!!

USAA Credit Card Services - FAILED PROTECTING ME FROM FRAUD

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Basically I never signed or verbally agreed to ANY of the fees I was charged by a company. USAA's fraud protection has considerably let me down and now I'm out $150 since the company decided to act in an unethical manner and bill me for services never rendered. USAA's dispute resolution group is a giant joke. I'm shocked they're siding with a company where I never signed or agreed anything verbally with. Its outrageous. Best part about this is I've never even been given an explanation by USAA why they ruled in this company's favor. Be careful dealing with USAA credit cards when you run into fraud!

Mortgage re-fi denied after 4-months of b--- s---

Totally echo the other posts. Started the process in April of 2014. Received denial letter in August. Actually got a phone call telling me about the denial two weeks before. I told the woman I wanted it in writing and I wanted details about why I was denied. Want more horror story. During the process a closing date was set, then canceled the day before. There was "one more" item needed. This "one more" item occurred about a dozen times during the 4-month process. The supposed "final" item had to do with our driveway. When the E-911 service went into effect, every little road had to have a name. Our hundred-yard-long driveway was given a name. USAA needed to know about a maintenance agreement for our driveway. Excuse me, I responded, after the third time this came up. Do I make a maintenance agreement with myself? I then heard nothing from them for over ten days when they said they had found a $179 per month expense for property tax on a 36-acre tract we own. I pointed out that this expense was on the original tax forms we sent them, basically day one of the process. Sorry, they said, but this pushed our debt to equity ratio from 45% to 49% and they could not go over 45%. Now, in the process of "working with us" they told us that if we closed two credit cards, one of them USAA's card, and they increased the loan amount to pay off the credit cards, that would get our ratio under the magic 45% ceiling. So we closed the accounts, being told by both credit card companies that doing so would damage our credit. And guess what. We've now closed the accounts, our credit rating has been lowered, and we have no re-fi. Whether this is U.S. Bank or whomever, you can read the complaints and know this is something these people should be help accountable for. I'm considering a Civil action against them. Hard to ascribe actual damages, but this sort of business needs to come to light and these guys need to be fixed. That fact that USAA even associates themselves with this U.S. Bank, or whoever they are is abhorrent. All my other dealings with USAA, over many years, have been exemplary. If you're interested in participating with me, send me an email: sheriffmcclane@***.com.

Account Access denied

I have been a customer with USAA for at least 10 years. Now that I am divorced and having financial struggles, USAA has not been there for me. I have informed them about my financial struggles, and requested a extension on my Loan and Credit Card payment .... they denied me.....Then a couple days later, for over a month ago, I started receiving this message when I tried to log on. "According to our records, you have unresolved charges with us. To obtain limited access to existing accounts you may log on by clicking proceed below. In order to resolve your charges and gain access to usaa.com, please call toll-free 1-80*-331-****." This is my checking account, IRA, Auto Insurance, and Credit Check Monitoring(which I did pay $5.50 a month for). The accounts I owe money on is the reason for USAA to deny access to any of these other important accounts, which should not have any connection.

USAA customer service reps don't honor what they promise cionsumers

We've experienced some financial setbacks this year. When we fell behind our auto insurance payments, so my husband called and was forth-right regarding our situation. He paid $160.00 late Tuesday afternoon and the rep assured my husband that our auto insurance would be up-to-date after he paid another $160.00 the following day. He called USAA back September 3, 2014. After he made the other amount, the rep directed him to another individual who told us in order to have our account rectified, USAA needed an additional $360.00. That should've been explained to my husband when he paid on the account 9/2/2014 and it wasn't. It's a bait-and-switch method which is dirty, underhanded, and outright wrong. I wanted to see if we could have some of our hard-earned money returned to us, but Cheryl which is who I spoke to this mid-morning informed me that I wouldn't get any of our payment back because that was the payment needed by this poor excuse of a rip-off company. They allege to help military veterans and their families but that is far from the truth. It's all about the money and not about the consumer! I am hurt and disappointed in their half-trained, dishonest ways. Before terminating conversation with Cheryl, I cautioned her that "every dog has their day and USAA will be held accountable for their dishonest tactics. So much for looking out for veterans and their families during trials and setbacks."

Sounds like something they would pull , trick you into paying as much as they can, get as much out of you. You are better off without them. Imagine if you really neede them you would be more screwed.

Bad policies

For 12 years I have been with USAA, I have had a clean record for 12 YEARS! This year I accidentally backed into a tree in florida while we were at the beach, broke out the back window and caused some denting. In December I received a Ticket for failure to make a complete stop at a stop sign, today I find out that USAA raised my premiums by 480 dollars over 6 months! Recap: 12 Years clean driving record, 21000 in premiums paid over 12 years, I have two vehicles insured with them, two properties insured with them, and they raise my premiums by almost 500 dollars for 6 months. That is the definition of a scam.

Sometimes good--sometimes bad

I have an automatic bill pay to my health insurance rx plan paid through a trust service. I never had a problem until last year I was cancelled because my insurance company did not receive payment for my policy until it was too late and it had already been cancelled. I have spent close close to $3000 this year on RX claims because they could not get their auto pay to auto pay when it should have. Now I look as if I don't pay my bills in a timely manner and have no coverage for some medications that are quite expensive and have been paid for out of pocket. I have even done without medications that I needed and I did not get because of cost. What can you do. I am damned if I do and I am damned if I don't. What can you do? At least they have spell check on their complaint review!!

HORRIBLE COMPANY

Better off not having insurance...incompetent idiotic claim handlers..they don't want to pay for car rentals...solicit and steer you to one rental agency..direct and steer you to their budget repair centers..don't want and refuse to pay original parts on a 2 year old $30000 truck......want to stop the rental car priviledges in a unreasonable time frame...repairs at your shop are done and USAA never issues the check on time...pure IDIOTS..I think they are mentally incapacitated at the San Antonio office...they are brainless. if you suffer a total loss, you are screwed....low settlement, and they fight you on an evaluation report...always get a written total loss report before you RELEASE your car to them.

Usaa - Account Review from Rockville, Maryland

Usaa is extremely unprofessional and unorganized. So here's the story. I am in the navy. Some months back, I transferred from the ship to shore duty. I started getting extra pay, and when I showed my chain of command my les they said I was entitled to it because it is a food allowance since I no longer receive meals on the ship. Fast forward months later. My chain of command was wrong. I got overpaid and the navy took all of that money back. I called usaa to explain to them what the issue was and gave them a date of when I could make my payments. I asked them to CUT OFF my automatic payments. Last month, they withdrew money out of my account without authorization. Called back and told them AGAIN and double checked to make sure my automatic payments were off and told them I would pay manually. First payment of 368 was due on august 15th. Second payment is due on the 29th of august. I paid the 368 on the August 15. Finally caught up with my bills and I had 370 left in my account. Go to swipe my card for food on Aug 19 only to find out it declined. I checked my account and saw that usaa took out an additional 368 after I'd already paid because once again they failed to honor my request of shutting off automatic payments. My refund won't come until next week because it takes 3-7 business days. So because of usaa taking money out of my account without permission, I have to worry about how I'm going to eat and put gas in my car until the money gets deposited back into my account!

I thought most banks closed at that time. Why is USAA obligated to be any different?

You may be a veteran. Thanks for your service. However, so are millions of other USAA members. What makes you so special?

Here's an idea.l: try signing up for direct deposit! That seems pretty simple.

It was just resolved in September. I sent in the form to turn the car over to them.

I overnighted it at the end of August. I wait a week to make sure they receive it as No response from USAA. They tell me I have to resend notorized forms that a date was crossed out. The form was not good.

After thinking about it I am fairly certain I did not scratch out a date so I call back. I ask them to fax me a copy of the form I had sent to them. The USAA employee goes and actually looks at the form and shows it to a manager.

Form is fine. After complaining about the treatment and lying I get my check the next day.

Yes these guys suck in this regard! I was just hit by one of their insured and they offered below market value for my vehicle and refused to offer a rental for enough time for them to even pay me their pittance.

How am I supposed to get around without a car or the cash to purchase another vehicle that their driver totaled. I'll be leaving bad reviews everywhere I can about these folks and contacting my attorney.

USAA does not protect its members from fraud, treat you like the criminal.

I was the victim of identity theft, thanks to a sibling gaining access to my checkbook and wallet. My sibling was able to defraud more than $3,000 from my checking account, and when I asked them what I could do to get the money back I kept getting the run around.

First, someone in the fraud department said once I sign an affidavit and submit a police report, they would start an investigation to help get my money back. Then just two days later some rude lady in the fraud department called me and said that because it's a family member, it's considered a domestic dispute, they can't get involved and I would have to press charges. After closing the account, I then get a Lifelock (I highly recommend them if you don't already have them) alert just a few days later stating that someone used my information to open not one but 2 accounts at USAA in my name. I called USAA and asked them what was going on.

I was then informed that these two accounts were overdrawn by thousands of dollars. My reply was, well I didn't open them, didn't even know they existed, I'd like them closed right away. They replied, well we can't close the accounts until the negative balances are resolved. Ok so how do I do that? You have to file a police report and send it to us.

Are you *** kidding me? Not to mention the very same day I get a new debit card in the mail for an account I didn't even open. They are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed at USAA. Why would I close my account and then open two new ones just a few days later?

Unbelievable! Yet it's my fault because a thief who happened to be a sibling got access to my info, yet I'm going through all of this trouble to try to get my money back. Does that even make sense? Not to mention their customer service is sh**ty.

Each time I called I was transferred to 80 million different departments, even got hung up on many times in the process. Those commercials they have are just a crock of *** Don't believe the hype. USAA does not care about Veterans at all.

Good riddance! I am now a member of a credit union that actually takes care of its members, rates are better too.

My account was attacked by a stranger of 13k and they are saying its my fault not paying them a dime and they canceled my auto insurance without telling me, even tho i paid till march of 2015 so been driving w/o insurance gotta get a new one in the morning. USAA is horrible NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Guest

they blame whoever owns the account they don't even really do a investigation at all. 2 customer service people stated to me that it doesn't matter if you even send a police report.

Guest

USAA NEVER DOES THEIR JOBS. ALL THEY DO IS BLAME THE VICTIM....

Somehow it is USAA's fault that your sibling is a criminal and should be locked away???

Callous and lazy company

I was hit from behind by 2 different drivers, both w USAA insurance. I was transported from the scene By ambulance. Both USAA drivers were cited by police (one received a ticket for excessive speed; the other for following too closely). USAA adjuster has still not make contact 1 week later. No car. Medical bills. I have called repeatedly to no avail. This evening a very sarcastic woman (not the adjuster) called to say "we've made some mistakes processing your claim" oops! Nothing but the run-around. Stay away!!!!! This is a horrible company with disinterested, incompetent employees. Now I understand why some people turn to lawyers after an accident. USAA=FAIL!

I have USAA for 30 years and am delighted with the company. They are polite, respond promptly, and settled a claim rapidly and to my complete satisfaction.

USAA clients are, apparently, the most loyal of all insurance companies. I'm sorry about your experience, but have to profoundly disagree with your comment.
