Usaa worst insurance company ever

my car was sideswiped, they got a ticket acknowledged they didn't look to the officer. Called to arrange to have my car repaired and am repeatedly told their insured has not made a statement. I got the estimates and arranged for a rental because I was told at first everything was finalized now they (usaa) are denying any responsibility. No one will give me a time line or what happens if they don't get a statement from the guy who hit me. I have called several times to try and resolve this especially since a ticket was issued and it was obvious who was at fault.

USAA and their Approved shop (Collision Works of Shawnee,OK)

So Dec 23rd, I hit a pothole driving about 55 mph, front left side collapsed sends me all over the road bends the axle, rips the upper ball joint out of upper control arm, tears up brake line, breaks grill clips, and blinker light. USAA is telling me the ball joint breaking away from control arm is wear and tear and not from the pot hole. It is impossible to get ahold of the adjuster who is working on my claim. And when you, he tells me he will get with the physical damage team. The physical damage team will not call me back. It is now 3/27/15 and my car is still at the approve shop they told me about (Collision Works of Shawnee). To anyone needing insurance or auto body work, do not use these two. They are both rude and incompetent.

I was unhappy with the auto and home insurance rates charged by State Farm. A ex-military friend recommended USAA, which my parents were on. I am so glad I took a look at my mother’s insurance before I moved to them: 1) they had been increasing my mother’s home insurance property replacement values every year, totally without any regard for realistic valuations or neighborhood values, and had overvalued her house by 50%. And they automatically pegged her personal property to a percentage of that, so her very old furniture was valued at 500% more than replacement. So basically, they have been deliberating and knowing robbing a 86-year-old widow. 2) When I complained about both, they offered a 20% reduction in both, but refused to change the personal property valuation fixed percentage. 3) At the same time, USAA investments has had my father’s estate tied up for a year and half in useless and silly wrangling, each month asking for something new – a new document, a new page, a new amendment. They do this intentionally, to many people, to keep the funds earning fees in their mediocre collection of mutual funds. It is an act of gross negligence or criminal incompetence. So I’ve got to lend money to my mother to pay her bills, because a big fat evil, greedy insurance and “investment” company can make lots of profits.

HOME BUYER BEWARE! USAA Will Not Close Your Loan!!!!

Over the last year I have worked with several different home buyers who as Veterans who have served our country with valor and honor I am honored to help them purchase a home as a local real estate professional. Veterans are very loyal people and they come to me believing that since they have been with USAA for many years, decades sometimes, that they will receive great service and special deals from USAA as a Veteran and loyal long time customer with banking, auto purchases, investments and other areas of business they have transacted with USAA throughout the years. Sadly, it is NOT the same when they go to get a home mortgage. USAA is a *** shoot at best and that is giving them more credit than they deserve for the incredible level of DIS-honoring service they are delivering to our Veterans seeking a home loan in today's market.

Granted getting a home mortgage in today's market is much different than in years past as there are so many more rules and government red-tape that in the past but that is not the biggest problem with USAA. The problem is they have so many Loan Officers, Loan Processors and Underwriters that just don't know what they are doing! They are THE most important people that are in charge of you getting to move into your new dream home or just dreaming about moving in and they don't know what they are doing! Your are a number to them. They work Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM (or at least that's when they might talk to you, or your real estate agent) and that is a big problem in itself! YOU will probably need to talk to your Loan Officer at 6:00, 7:00 or later and on the weekend too when you are working to get your mortgage on your new home, but you will not be able to talk to anyone at USAA after bankers hours.

Add to that that while they are at work they will only take your phone calls and respond to your emails in the very beginning when they want you to believe that they are competent and are working really hard to get your mortgage for you. It's all smoke and mirrors via the phone and internet.

What you don't know WILL HURT YOU! It WILL COST YOU MONEY!!!! After you have invested $1000's of dollars in earnest money, appraisal fees, inspection fees, etc. you will find yourself receiving the dreaded DELAYED closing phone call and/or the dreaded DENIAL phone call 1-2-3 days before you are scheduled to close!!!

This is a travesty of justice and a pure injustice for our Veterans. HOME BUYERS BEWARE! VETERANS BEWARE!! These so called mortgage professionals are anything but, they have minimum wage clerks who can't tell the difference between a contract to purchase a home from a termite inspection report.

Do yourself a BIG MONEY SAVING FAVOR and stay very far away for USAA if you want to actually buy a home!!!

They have left 3 very loyal USAA customers and Veterans homeless this year, or sitting in a hotel with a moving van on the way and have NOT CLOSED ON THEIR HOME after they (the home buyers) have done absolutely everything that USAA asked them to do and done it right!

Myself my heart aches for the home buyers for all they have been through and despite the fact that I tried to educate them to these facts about USAA they were so loyal to them because they had received good service in other areas they wanted to stay with them......they all regretted their decision when USAA left them and their familes kicked to the curb by their incompetence.

I hope that everyone who wants to buy a home will read this post over and over again until you feel my passion for saving you from walking into a nightmare that will cost you a lot of heartache, pain and yes money too. AVOID USAA!!

As a Veteran, you deserve the very best in all things and I wish you well and hope you will find a great local mortgage professional who has years of experience in helping home buyers realize their dream of a new home. Ask your real estate agent for recommendations. We work with mortgage professionals every day and we know who will treat you right and make the mortgage process as stress-free for you as possible.

If this post helps just one person escape USAA it will have been worth my post.

I can concur...please people don't get a mtg with them. I was a mbr, then an employee, now just a mbr and the NIGHTMARE I went through trying to get my mtg finalized, even to the point of having my closing delayed while SITTING at closing because they LOST my file-I am NOT kidding, and I had to re fax stuff because they couldn't locate my info.

DO NOT GET A MTG LOAN with them, you will regret the experience.

I love USAA products, but do not put yourself through the aggravation!!! If you possibly can, go to a credit union, they won't sell you off to the HORRENDOUS mtg servicers that will ruin your life...

Tess, I am so sorry to hear you were a victim of USAA as well. I'm glad you actually closed on your home but it never should have been so hard.

As one who works in the real estate industry I advise everyone to stay away from ANY company whose business is not 100% real estate mortgage loans as their sole source of business, as they have to take care of their customers to stay in business!

Banks and credit unions their number one source of business is managing your money, NOT mortgages. Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America, they are all Banks, and their number one source of business is NOT real estate mortgages. There are countless others as well.

I am posting this reply for the benefit of all who take the time to read it, as again my sole purpose is to help people.

It's kind of like this.....when you want a great Steak for dinner you don't go to a fast-food restaurant, or even a Seafood restaurant who added Steak to their menu so they wouldn't miss out on having those who like Steak coming to their restaurant. Steak is a tiny portion of what they serve and not their specialty, they specialize in seafood and you should expect their seafood to be great.

So many financial type businesses have added "real estate mortgages" to their menu of items but beware!

they hire untrained paper-pushing-clerks with no mortgage knowledge to handle your delicate legal paperwork, they are given the proper training and they just flat don't know what they are doing most of the time. If you are trying to by a home it will be your worst nightmare....

Think about this....how would you feel if you knew the person who comes in at midnight to clean the restaurant after closing is the same person who is advertised as the Fine-Dining-Restaurant's 5-star Chef? Or the Doctor you are going to has lost their last 3 patients because they decided that since they are a Dr. well they want to branch out into surgery because it pays more but the Dr is not a surgeon?

Maybe these are not great analogies but I hope they paint a distinct picture that IT MATTERS A GREAT DEAL when you are ready to buy a home that you work with a *Local* TENURED* Mortgage Professional* who is with a company that ALL they do is real estate mortgages. It is their ONLY source of business. How do you know who to trust? Ask a REALTOR who you trust or get a referral from someone you trust or search online but ASK!

and make sure before you begin the process.

I am not a mortgage lender, I do not work for a mortgage lender, I am a REALTOR who cares....a lot.

Unrelenting mailers.

I signed up 3 years ago with USAA and found them to be a super hassle. I had to open a banking account just to receive coverage. The customer service was poor after opening these accounts. and the coverage was not as good as what I already had. Since then, I have made it clear to USAA that I do NOT want any further correspondence. I have returned junk mail and asked them to removed me from their mailing list. Still to this day the junk mail continues. This is a waste of paper, and accomplishes nothing in that I will not change my mind and buy insurance from USAA.

Usaa did not follow instructions to stop automatic drafts.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
usaa was told that we were changing credit unions and that we would be making manual payments until the change. They tried three times to draft from an account that is being closed even when I called when I saw the first attempt. The dmi customer service man was a total ***. He kept repeating we have protocol, I said if you have protocol then shouldn't I have been told that. He just sat there not saying anything for approx. 20 seconds until I said Hello. He then said I understand your frustration but we have protocol. I told him to not draft from that account again and he said we need it in writing. I sent him and email two minutes later, They then tried to draft twice more in the following days. No one told during my original call that I had to send it in writing. I contacted the ceo's office with this and was told that dmi is a separate company and they would ask what happened. They did not even have the courtesy to call me, instead they left a message on their site that they were right and I was wrong. Also I had transferred my payment to my usaa account and instructed the to pay my mortgage from my usaa account . It took them 5 days to do so and then they charged me a late fee. What *** charge you a late fee because they were late taking it out. usaa employs people who have only one job , and that is to lie and *** out of money they do not care about Veterans only making money even if it is doing by any means even if it is not on the up and up.

Victims of fraud with NO help at all and the door slammed in our face from USAA

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Our account was taken over through fraudulent activity and funds that were not even available from another account were somehow posted to our USAA account twice, in the amount of 5000, one of them even after we had our account frozen on Dec. 24 before the holiday and it still happened again on the 29th. The thief then transferred these funds to another account upon which these funds came back to USAA as being insufficient and now USAA says we owe them 10,000!!! The fraud deptartment is worthless! It's very suspicious activity that we should have been notified about. We have filed a police report and are taking other measures to get to the bottom of this because we have been victims of serious fraudulent activity on TWO of our bank accounts and USAA basically called us liars and said that we had to have given our info out to someone in order for this activity to have occurred online. Something is very fishy at USAA! And now they say they reserve the right to cease doing business with us....like we would want to continue a relationship with a bank who doesn't care about their customers. What a nightmare!

Usaa - Deposit Review from Woodstock, Georgia

USAA is a joke! You would think that they would sincerely take care of there veterans, that have fought for this nations freedom, yet they treat you like the VA. I have found that the banking department is highly un-sympathetic to the customers problems. I deposited a money order through UPS, and for the 1st time they put a deposit hold on the money order. I could understand if it's a check, but a money order?? This was a first for me. I called customer service, and informed them I have to pay rent and I deposited just enough to do so. In short, the representative blatantly told me, sorry there's nothing that can be done, the hold is for 10 days. I said, "ok, well, what about my rent? The representative basically acted like, it's not my problem.. I have an account with Bank of america as well, and boy I tell ya, they're all about customer service, and will work with you. I've had usaa for over 10 years. What a sad disappointment. I would go with any other bank, other than usaa.

USAA Ridiculous procedure to setup account for automatic withdrawal.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Made the BIG mistake of deleting current working automatic payment account for a different one, to pay for my auto insurance from USAA. They cannot verify the account until you login to their multi-level security account and request two deposits made to your account to verify it.

USAA then (hopefully) sends you two different temporary deposits within 1-3 days. You then hope this has happened after three days; go to your local branch within 30 days (and also before the next billing date); obtain those deposit amounts; return to USAA website and enter your three levels of security login information; find the manage accounts feature; click on the non-verified account and enter the two values from your bank. Now hope and pray the verification posts, stating that it is verified. I tried this three times with failure.

This is just and example of unethical strong-arm business practice to coerce members to use USAA banking services instead of an outside bank, and they KNOW that. Then their website login is like they are running NORAD. Except the people at NORAD actually use encoded cards and fingerpring scanners (cheap and still the best). Why don't they just require a simple fingerprint from a $19 fingerprint reader available at any computer superstore which plugs into a USB port?

I guarantee no one has ever hacked a fingerprint, which is why they are used for drug dispensers, like Pixis and by federal agencies. No, let's just add 6 more levels of numbers, symbols, arbitrary shapes and sequences of things that can be hacked, and ten minutes of hassle for you to enter it as you look it up in your digital password keeper app. Then, good luck finding anything on their convoluted, multi-level website. I know they are located in a foreign country called Texas, but this is like going back to the 1980's.

It's no wonder that their company is so archaic. Their CEO is a retired Axxx Bxxxxxxxx Gxxxxxx good 'ol boy republican with (no doubt) dinosaur thinking (which also runs the rest of our country) and keeps America where they want it: At the bottom of the list with most everything. While smaller countries with more drive and fewer resources, do more with better-educated people, and fresh, innovative decision making.

Just visit Europe or Israel. You will think you've returned to the wild west when you come back here.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Im not very happy switching from AAA even though it was $30 /month more for the same coverage with USAA (current), i had one claim that was a hit and run with a note, and they totally short changed me(USAA). The other party already was identified and took 100% blame. I dont get it? its not like its your money USAA, i hate cheap suits. i got the lowest amount of 2 of the approved repair facilities, i made the mistake of switching from shop A to shop B thinking its more expensive (usaa wasnt paying anyway state farm was since they were at fault). i got an estimage from their shop a for $400 more for the same repair, and then i switched to their 2nd approved facility which is 6 miles away from shop A and the same repair was $400. Whats the point of contacting your insurance to FIGHT or go after the other party, cheap bastards. They have a so so network of shops. I would only take to a diamond certified facility or the dealer, F that. At this point i may even switch to geico, lol. Im only happy with the premium amount, otherwise same ***, cheap, and watching their own pockets. i would sue them if i could, but im not that much of a revenge seeking ***. USAA you disappointed me with the auto insurance portion of your business.. In my opinion you get what you pay for, even with a prestigious and respected co like USAA. im usually not this *** but i felt like i got screwed by my own team thats all. thanks for serving those who serve Recently discharged VET JSPEC

Their customer service/claims representatives need to learn what customer service is. I continue to leave messages and Francis Velasquez who is supposed to be handling my claim (it was their customer who plowed into the back of my truck and totaled it) and he doesn't return phone calls. I would like to close out my claim so i can get another vehicle but can't get anywhere with those people. You couldn't pay me to have USAA as an insurance company. The one time i was able to get hold of Francis Velasquez i was insulted by the ridiculously low amount he was offering me.
