Raised my Home Value and Deductible - Your home replacement cost was raised because materials, labor, etc for your area have gone up. Your deductible is a percentage of that total cost. You can't seriously expect any insurance company to insure a 2011 home at, for example 1980's home prices.

USAA Mortgage Dept Poor Service

USAA Mortgage Dept employees treatment to customers is HORRIBLE. We are hardly able to get hold of our LOAN SPECIALIST. On top of everything we leave messages on her voice mail and she never returns our calls. We had to keep calling and when we are able to get hold of her, her attitude is horrible. She makes us feel like SHE IS DOING US A FAVOR. In their website states that they suppose to review your documents withing 3 days of receiving it and we still waiting....My husband is shopping around for another mortgage company. USAA is not what it use to be!

We recently had a terrible experience attempting to acquire a loan. Unreturned calls, late requests for information, and general lack of response to our needs.

We grew so frustrated with the poor customer service that we went an alternative route. The service has gone downhill and although we have been members for over 30 years, we will not go there again.

I cannot agree more! I dealt with the Yolanda person and her eubonics as well. The *** does not understand basic loan terminology and defended the performance of our processor lady (some mexican that barely spoke english- wow there is a surprise- NOT) the incompetent nit wit that is in charge of the mortgage dept needs to be fired

I am posting everywhere I can to warn people about USAA and their horrible treatment of customers (members) - USAA Mortgage is run by mexican immigrants, I am totally convinced of that!! Our VA Mortgage Processor, could not communicate well at all (and I think she cursed out my husband in Spanish) therefore, I will tell everyone I know AND the VA loan center about how Veterans and their families are treated.

I applied alnong with my husband for a VA Refinance a month ago. My husband is 100% disabked as a result if service in Afghanistan- a grenade exploded under him during a "sweep". He is a grunt, an infantryman and would die for his country- and he almost did!! Anyway, our VA Processor kept telling us he has to pay the 3.3% funding fee. Then, she changed her mind and said no he did not. She refused to accept any paperwork from the VA with his rating. This incompetant *** mexican lady put us through *** and back! It finally came to the point that our lock expired not once but twice on us. Had we gone through with the USAA refinance, we would have had another half a percent tacked on to our rate.

I am thinking that this malicious treatment has to be criminal or fraud. I find it hard to believe that a fortune 500 organization would be so "politically correct" in its hiring to reflect the large mexican american population in TX without regard to skill or merit. I understand that they have a consumer reporter on KENS 5 in SA. I have contacted him and they will be airing an expose on USAA Mortgage Services in early Feb 2011.

I want to vomit when I think of the bad people there.

Wow!! I think I did talk to a nicole AND a supervisor named Yolanda.

They were both rude and dumb as a rock when I asked questions about our VA refi in process last week!! what a small world

USAA Mortgage Serices is truly a nightmare. My husband was an Infantryman that was killed incombat in Afghanastan when he stepped on a mine.

I know the "Yolanda" you speak of. She apparently is a Senior in San Antonio who will never return my calls. She makes sure she avoids me when she sees my number. The loan processor assigned said that she was strictly a contract or "temp" worker and she was simply woking as a temp for Christmas money then she would quit.

I am trying to refinance my home and my rep never returned a call and when she did she BLAMED ME for not locating my huisband;s death certificate within the 3 day window they have. I found it about 2 weeks beofre closing and when I faxed it to her 4 times, she said it was too late- she had "Yolanda" withdraw the file and my $350 was lost and my 4.25% rate was gone!!! I have 2 children under 2 and now I do not know if I can afford to stay in my home. I think that their use of "temp" employees is deploarable!

Also, this "Yolanda" is a total female version of a thug. I will be contacting CNN as well and 20/20 How ironic it is that a company that "wraps" itself in the American Flag is so hypocritical! Do not even get me started on having to talk to offshore call centers in India or eslewhere when I called ni for mortgage status.

The news magzine TV shows will have a field day with this USAA. Disgusting.

Sounds like you had my loan processor Nicole. She refused to return calls and even e-mails.

My agent said she couldn't believe how hard it was to get ahold of the loan processor. Nicole Malec - please find a new career!!!

Buying our first house in 12 years, USAA loan processing seems to be incompetently staffed. I wonder if they reserve higher quality-of-service specialists for senior military members/retirees?

USAA Finance Co Woes

I am another member that has had problems with an auto loan. They even towed my truck with no notice or calls!!! Turns out they applied my payment to another members account. It took me an entire day at the bank with my other bank manager on the phone to straighten this out. They then told me I had to pay the towing fee. After an ugly scene in the bank managers office, my truck was delivered back to my house. They then followed that up in the last few months with calls stating they never recieved my payment. I had gone to the bank and paid cash. Thank God I saved my reciepts. Back to the bank...reciepts in hand to prove I had made my last 2 payments in cash, in their lobby!!! What in the world is going on? I never really got a clear answer about what happened that time. I did recieve a letter saying that they were sorry for the mixup. I am changing banks. I would not, do not recommend them to anyone.

This company is a joke and very unprofessional. They have no problem with committing fraud by calling my insurance company pretending to me and requesting that information be faxed to them without my consent and I don't even a car financed through them but my son does.

You'd think that they would have the decency to ask me for a copy of my insurance since I am the primary owner of the policy instead of sneeking around and lying about who they are. Beware of these violaters because they are very shady characters and are liars!

USAA Mortgage Dept terrible and

I had 4 different people, one a supervisor tell me different things today. The integrity of USAA is no longer. I spent over a hour on the phone starting a loan appt for a home we wanted to make an offer on. I told the agent up front how we planned to rent out our current home once our offer was accepted. He said no problem, you have reserves. The last person told me a whole different story. That I would have to have my house rented out for a year before I could get a loan for another home. Where would I live during that time? The agent's logic was lacking. They also ran my credit report and then apologized for telling me wrong info. Well every employee told me a different story. USAA is terrible and won't use them again.

Don't you ppl have better things to do than gripe and complain. Go to another lender, go to a nursing home and help.

Get acquainted with family members that have been placed there by their loved ones some poor patients forgotten. Do volunteer work and stop being so dramatic. As a well educated multi-degreed individual of Hispanic and Native American Heritage that speaks several languages, I deplore the fact you LUMP and classify most all of us as "Mexicans". How do you know?

Have you checked their papers for their Country of birth? The culprits are the entities that hire these so called "Mexicans". Yes, sadly the hiring begins from the Federal, State and City levels. These 'Mexicans" are dehumanized, mistreated, underpaid and threatened with deportation if they attempt to report their greedy employers.

I speak from experience, trust me. If all of these 'Mexicans' are deported who will do your dirty work? I dare you to see the movie A Day Without Mexicans that was made in the USA. I believe that is the title of the film.

Get educated and out of your negative window. P.S. I say this with love.

Lastly, don't forget we were there to help you survive and to this day you continue to take our livelihood just as you took our Country, God help us all. Remember, you can't take it with you.

What are you talking about just shut the f%$# up!!!

This is common we have taken in many new employees, temporary employees and outsourced. So, it is not out of the realm of possibilities that you were told several different "stories".

USAA Pre Approve me for a home loan and sent me to the cert and and agent to look for a home and then less then 2 months later the and with no change in my credit they changed their minds and denied my App. WTF USAA. Do you know how much work it is to find a home then to be told sorry is wasnt my call to make....

Movers Advantage has been good with getting setup with a local agent and finding a house but I too had a terrible experience with the mortgage loan department.

We started the loan based on a verbal quote. Soon the actual closing costs estimate was disclosed on the good faith estimate which was twice the amount quoted on the phone.

I was reassured verbally that the the GFE was in error and as the loan process developed it became clear that the closing cost would be in line with what was quoted in the GFE.

After wasted time and earnest money, the not so easy solution was to go with a different lender who was less confusing, had better rates, and could close faster

In all fairness, the banking and insurance department is one of the best.

I am a current USAA mortgage processor for both the VA and conventional lines of business. I am the first to admit that all the negative comments about the USAA mortgage process and processors are, sadly, correct.

For starters, my co workers were recruited from largely from day labor agencies- that's right, your "loan representative" may have been laying brick or drywalling one day and next day that person is "processing" your mortgage!! Also, we (yeah I admit, I take part in this) make key documents "disappear" if we were having a bad day. For example, a purchase contract or an appraisal can disappear EVEN if you, the applicant keep sending in documents :-) Additionally, voicemails get deleted without getting heard, and emails too (from you, our member). This happens because we resent having the weight of the world on our shoulders while the team leads and Underwriters do almost nothing!! I have caused many closings not to happen- especially purchases when we have the authority to delete entire loan files!

Also, because we are the point-of-contact with the appraiser, title companies, etc., we routinely ask the appraisers to "low ball" the appraisal so the deal falls through. Now, before you start getting all mad at me, please consider the following: If a loan is denied for low appraisal, it is AWESOME because that file falls off our caseload. If the appraisal does come in where we need it to, then it creates a MASSIVE amount of work for us!! It SUXXXX!!

USAA mortgage does not provide us with training and we largely "make it up" as we go along. We do not try to create a bad member experience; however, due to the fact our caseloads aAre so heavy, we do anything possible to "kill" a deal. It sounds horrible, but afterall what would you do if you were one of us?? We don't earn barely above minimum wage and we are 100% "contracted" labor. In other words, we are "temps" and we have no benefits and are expendable!

Make up your own mind if you want to deal with USAA Mortgage- you now have all the facts!!

Melissa K

Golly that’s terrible. One issue I’m not clear on is how much you are making.

Even doing the math on your double negative it doesn’t really make sense. Really, I don’t understand your comment, "We don't earn barely above minimum wage”. So you are making well above minimum wage?

Or possibly you are making less? A little unsolicited, but friendly, advice; if you want to be taken seriously, don’t type the way you speak.

Oh please. This is fake.

My son works at USAA. You cant delete items from the system. Maybe if youre IT? But regular employees cant .

Contracted labor? Noooo. He said they are not temps?

Yes, he said misinformation may be given at times, but what you wrote? He said you are most likely a competitors employee, or a former usaa employee who was so lazy that you eventually got FIRED.

My husband's ex-spouse(since 1984) is listed as an eligible co-manager of OUR children's accounts. They didn't have any children, they are my children with my husband!!

If your children have pre-paid credit cards with USAA, click on "add a co-manager" at the bottom of the page to see who pops up on their list. Why won't USAA remove her name from the list of eligible co-managers for our children? They keep saying it isn't a security risk because she isn't on the account, just an eligible co-manager. She would have to know information like, my husband's USAA #, SS#, his date of birth, and his mother's maiden name to get access.

Gee, I wonder if an ex-spouse would know that kind of personal information! After over a year of trying to get them to fix it, they actually called the "ex" to see if it is ok with her to remove her name from OUR children's banking accounts!!! They aren't even her children!! What a violation of our privacy!

Is that even legal?? With USAA, once someone is on your account, they are always listed on your account, even though you may not see it. USAA keeps telling us they can't stop listing the ex because "their members want ex-spouses to have access". They aren't her children!!!

Tell USAA to change their bylaws to allow you to remove ex-spouses from your accounts completely. They say it shouldn't bother us to see an ex-spouse listed above my own name as an eligible co-manager of "my" children's banking accounts. Some reps have even said an ex is listed all over our accounts but we can't see it. Who do they think they are?

Email Joe Robles, CEO, to tell him that after a divorce you have the right to have your accounts separated completely at USAA. What a shame USAA doesn't know how to "do the right thing, because it's the right thing to do" right, Joe?

Karma is the reason most of you had such horrible time getting a loan. I am disgusted by your comments regarding people of Mexican decent and people who "dont speak english" you are probably as ignorant as you sound in these posts and deserved to be cussed out, 2- KARMA hates ugly people, so you got what you put out in the world, and 3- I am a white woman with a dont assume I am a Mexican who is trying to defend myself...shame on you all...

USAA- The best!

Love USAA insurance and banking products! They are truly the best. I've been with them since 1993 and have never been so well treated and received such quality products and pricing from any other. Very pleased! (No, I don't work for them nor do I know anyone who does). Honestly and A+++ company who cares about their products, service, and clients. I appreciate their quality products, service, and pricing. And, like the fact that if I need to speak to one of their representatives, I can actually understand them! Thank you USAA. I gladly recommend you! You have proven you are the Best!

I've had USAA since 1965 and I couldn't be more pleased--they were there for me when a moving company wrecked all of our belongings and were there for a couple of other claims for home and auto. Even when my credit card number was stolen last year--they promptly handled everything. I think they are absolutely the best company.

USAA Fraud Dept did nothing to recoup stolen credit card

My credit card has been compromised 3 times. 2 of the times I did all leg work to recoup the money for USAA. The did absolutely nothing. I was able to stop delivery of a $686 smart phone. I also tracked down the individual that stole my daughter's college credit card. The 3rd one I was not able to solve because it was online airline tickets. The young lady that stole the credit card was arrested and had to pay back the money. I called USAA and they said that I had to send the check to them even though they didn't do anything because the police were involved. Heck, I could have been dishonest and kept the check. They never would have even known about it. When I told them that, they said that I would then be defrauding USAA. Give me a fricking break!!!!!

Did USAA pay you for the amount of the loss? If so then they have the right to ask for the money back, but if they didn't pay anything then why would you have to send it back? Next time turn it into your credi card company you only have to pay the first $50.00 of a stolen card if anything...

Worst customer service.

If you are looking for good customer service and fast claim service, do NOT call USAA. They never anwser their phones and won't call you back and it takes 3 days for them to anwser their emails. Our truck was hit over 6 weeks ago and we still don't have the money! They offered us $2500 dollars below blue book value and refuse to even talk to us! They have now posted the dollar amount that they are paying us and it is $200 dollars short from the amount they said we would get. Unless you enjoy being screwed over, look for a different company.

You are correct, I'd be happy to pay a little more for great customer service.

USAA has poor customer service and response to needs.

Pay a little more and get a reputable company. I swear by State Farm, they have local agents to deal with, you can go to their office if you have a problem.

They have always treated me right. I would stay away from any insurance you have to e-mail.

USAA Insurance-Customer Service Is Broken

I have been a long time member (20 plus years) of USAA Bank; Insurance-both Home & Auto. I have come to the conclusion that something is seriously broken in their Customer Service Operations. I get attitude when I call to complain about the lack of service I feel I am getting. Isn't that what Customer Service is there for? To service the customer? The notion seemed lost on "Shaydee" in the Home Insurance Claims Dept. She actually talked over me. With 30 plus years in Customer Service myself, I know when I receive good service and I know very well when I don't. This has been the only consistent when I have tried to get USAA to pay on a home burglary claim I filed 2 months ago! That's right TWO MONTHS- I HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT A BROKEN WINDOW; TWO KICKED IN BEDROOM DOORS-WITH NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT. I am so disgusted with my USAA Insurance, I will tell every single person I can to NEVER insure with them. I can never get my adjuster on the phone, not once in two months of my calling, has he ever picked up the phone. Then to have his lackies run interference- "Shaydee" was just plain useless. They may as well have an auto-attendant as her people skills were virtually non-existent. When I tried to ask questions, she actually talked over me....never once did I hear "Oh, I'm sorry for you trouble..." She lacks the empathy skills required in a tru Customer Service Professional. She could only say that my adjuster was obviously too busy to talk with me personally. WTF???? I could only laugh at some of her responses as she had not a clue how to perform her job.

I too had the same exp with USAA home insurance, I had a rifle stolen out of truck and they said since my name wasnt on the policy and my wifes name was, that they werent going to cover my property!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANOTHER COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USAA Customer Service used to be top notch. It is now aweful.

I am NOT a valued customer anymore. They seem to be utlizing 3rd parties now to "sell" on behalf of them. Their martgage dept is not even USAA. You get transferred to a third part who is NOT employed by USAA and treats you like a number.

In the past I stuck with USAA because of the service, I have no loyalty to them anymore. Something has gone terribly wrong with leadership.

I just recently started yelling at them, any good e-mail addresses or phone numbers? its taking 5 days without my car just to get it looked at, needless to say I'm pissed.

i will tell you why cs sucks with usaa, the cs reps are worked to death, its supposed to be the best place to work. but let me tell you if your not selling ,your nothing to usaa.

even one of the directors said if you miss a day your nothing to the company.

its all about the numbers. employees are a dime a dozen with usaa :cry

If this helps anyone know that USAA Has No Customer Service Training.. Works for the Best of that company..

and full of *** Get a different insurance company.

Just a thought... Maybe we should send them to fight the war and not their customers....

mortage department: Worst customer service I have ever received and incompetent processers. Not what I have experienced in pAst with USAA. Also, I could not find out how to complain to someone above any of the workers.

Our truck was hit by a rolling boulder, (which we have no recourse with the TN DOT for because that is a pretty common-place thing I guess?) damaging the frame. After much calling and no returned calls, finally USAA told us where to take it.

Months went by while the shop was finally told by USAA to perform the estimated $11K+ damage including a new frame from Detroit. The vehicle is worth $25K new, resale value is stated at $17K. We weren't sure why they did not total the vehicle. The repairs were completed, but the truck ran badly afterward, with grinding noises in front and rear end, transmission slips when in tow mode and steering column probs that were not previously there.

Shop said they recognized it was not running as it should be (replacing a frame would involve a lot of idiosyncrasies), the adjuster apparently told USAA that the issues were not related to the accident. The truck ran great before the accident. They are now saying that we can take it to a dealer for a second opinion, but they don't intend to do anything for us. Furthermore, the adjuster made a comment 'Didn't you say the transmission was slipping before the accident' (NO!

WHAT is THAT?). USAA customer service treats you like the enemy, has no intention of making things right, it doesn't mater that you have been a customer for 11+ years! We contacted an attorney, who said that we can only take action if they settle the claim out and the vehicle is still a 'lemon'. Why didn't they total it in the first place?

If they want to fix it, fine, but why don't the FIX it? Please give us some good advice! They have made it clear that they don't intend to make it right, and there is no professionalism in this company!! We have been without the truck for almost 4 months, he needs it for work as he is a contractor.

C'MON already! WHAT RIGHTS DOES THE CONSUMER HAVE? When is it a 'Bad Faith' insurance claim? GOT GOOD ADVICE?

PLEASE HELP! aprildawnwelsh@***.com :cry

I had a friend spill beer on his computer and told the adjuster this, the home owners insurance put the money for the computer in his account in 2 hours.

In afghanistan we were robbed while living in a tent and they covered all the losses with complete honesty. BEST COMPANY EVER. Very friendly too.

USAA OVERALL SCAMS, CHEATS AND LIARS.....illegal practices, terrible customer service and a complete rip off to the public...STAY AWAY

I am currently habing a bad experience with my auto claim. I am now in month three, and had my first hiccup 2 months ago when apparently my claims adjuster stopped working at the company and they failed to take any action on my claim. I only got this information after multiple calls and being passed around to multiple CSR's.

At one point, I finally asked for a supervisor who told me that the person handling my claim no longer works for the company. I was then told my claim was complete, however 2 weeks later I get a letter in the mail stating that I need to send in more documents, documents related to my medical bills. They claim to have never gotten the amounts of my bills, yet the letter they send me asking for the information has all of the amounts for my bills printed on it, with the hospital information listed as well.

I am still in the process of this claim and mailed the "last" of the required documents in yesterday.

Here's hoping they turn things around soon, because I have not experienced one bit of the great customer service they are purported to have.

One last thing: don't think that putting the requested call times on their request for support option on their website means anything, because they have yet to call me at a time I request, and then when I sent in an email stating as such and requesting a call between specific times, they send me an canned email back in response telling me that I can call them whenever is convenient.

USAA is a bit rough

usaa insurance is a bit rough. in september of 2009 we had a fire loss on our home. overall i thought they did us ok. on contents i beleive they did fine. yet on structure they assigned an adjuster that played games with the numbers and treated us like fools. still in a battle with them due to it all. in the mean time we had to purchase a different home because of it all even tho they did not pay for us to purchase another home or rebuild our 5 year old house that was totaled in the fire..

The past year USAA Customer service has went down

I have been with USAA for 6 years and the first five were great. But this last year USAA has went down on customer service. I have applied for 4 loans and be declinded all 4 times from USAA but the three that were turned down by USAA was approved by Service One. USAA states it knows what it means to serve but they can not prove it by me. I think they need to do a consumer check and see the difference they are doing wrong. I have since left USAA and taken my business else where. I think USAA has done nothing more than use the thinking it is all about the money not the customer. Because after I got a decline of credit from them they call and the rep stated that they have to watch out for their interest. And that all late payments that were made two years ago on closed account also was used to base their decission. Tell me what would you do after that and another bank stated we can help. USAA will lose more and more customers and then what is their intrest going to be like.

Who Know, apparently you can't read.If I had your address I'd send you one of my financial calculators since you apparently don't know how to count. Thanks to Veronica for pointing out your error,

Dear TONYINSATX, it is obvious that USAA is now more than happy to take on higher risk clients. Most unfortunate.

They have instantly lowered themselves below the likes of Allstate and State Farm in Florida. They have increased the premiums by 12% to their loyal customers to finance this latest expansion.

Opps:) I meant January 6, 2009.

To: "Who know"

You need to learn how to read the date. The first post was made on January 1, 2009.

tony you are wise to reply to a 3 year old post maybe he is still reading this.

I was just reading your complaint and just had to comment, given the recession that we're in. It sounds like turning you down was the right thing for USAA to do.

Late payments are a sign of financial stress and/or financial irresponsibility and they factor into one's credit score. Also banks that had loose lending standards made loans to folks who ended up having financial stress and/or were financially irresponsible and that is mainly what has caused the recession that we're in. The majority of those folks defaults on their loans or couldnt keep up w/payments causing the issue. If they had never been approved this would not have happened.

The banks that approve loans to folks that are irresponsible are just giving them rope to hang themselves with. I've been turned down for loans before as well, but if that hadn't happened I'd be up to my eyeballs in debt now. Thank God I'm not and my family is ok.The only times one should take out a loan is 1) when buying a home and 2) MAYBE taking one out to pay for college. Everythingelse should be paid via CASH.

Personally I'm happy that some companies like USAA choose NOT to take higher risk.

Can you imagine what would happened if EVERY bank approved most loan apps and THEN the defaults happened? We would not be in a recession, we'd be in GREAT DEPRESSION II!

I was hit by driver who was cited by police her fault was able to drive away took to my mechanic est is about 733. +body work around 500 usaa called and told me total loss didnt make since since their estimate is higher than my estimate. I told them unacceptable the rep on phone told me i would have to sue them and hung up on me i have got my insurance progressive involve at this time would appreciate any advice

So you forgot to mention year make and model and how many miles are on this truck. Insurance companies don't MAKE you take a salvage title.

You had to have told them you want to retain the truck for this to be an option.

Sounds like the 1200 bucks is minus the salvage value which tells me your truck must be older with some miles on it which at that point doesn't take much total with or without frame damage. Just a guess since I'm sure there is more to this story.

Be sure to jot down the name of the representative with whom you are discussing the insurance problem. Next, put all complaints in writing.

Try to solve at the local level. If this does not occur, try the national office. If you receive no help, write a letter to your state insurance Board with a list of the date and reps.

File a formal complaint. Good luck!

I have been a member with USAA for over 40 years. They used to be a good loyal and trustful company. But in the last 10 years they have been greedy and terrible with their costumers. I just had dammage to my house from Hurracane IKE. Not only it took them over a month...

I have been dealing with USAA about some financial investments I am making (entrusting my money to) with them. My experience so far with them is causing me some suspicions that they will NOT be there for me at the time of a property loss (fire, etc).

They have been courteous, but have made some major goofs in handling the investment -- amateurs!! Because of THEIR mistake causing me loss of interest, they will not stand by them and reimburse me for the mistake THEY made. Not good.

I am looking for another insurance company with good reviews to insure my home and automobiles. I don't trust them anymore.
