My kids were driving my car (22 & 15 yrs old) on August 4, 2011 and were rear ended by a USAA insured driver. Turns out the driver had earlier been to the dentist and was put under for a procedure, then went to a local bar and admitted to have 4 beers. USAA picked up...

USAA Authorizes $6000 Charge

On October 15 someone charged and USAA approved a $6000 charge to my account. Granted, given its a credit card account I'm not liable but that's not the point. They approved a $6000 charge yet about ten days earlier froze my account over three charges that totaled less $100. Go figure. The part though that aggravates me is I told them the charge was bogus on October 16 when I spotted it (it was a "pending" charge) and here it is the 24th and the $6000 is still showing as a charge. I'm being told I need to wait while the fraud department evaluates. Charge was made to an airplane salesman in Jay, Florida. Don't fly airplanes nor even own a pilot's license.

USAA Insurance - Sells Your Data

A friend of mine recomended USAA. I called and got a quote. It was 2.5 times higher than GEICO, including umbrella, so I told them thanks, but not thanks. Withing a week, I started getting calls from insurance solicitors on my provate line. I had made the mistake of calling USAA from that number, and, even though I did not give the number to them directly, they captured it on caller ID and sold my information. Solution - if you have to call them, use your Google phone or other similar. Better yet, don't waste your time with a company that is not only not competitive, but from what I read, has terrible claim service.

I am a loyal USAA customer/employee and absolutely do not believe that the USAA CEO would permit that kind of conduct: e.g. selling membership data to other insurers.

So I suggest that you write General Robles directly at:

Josue Robles, Jr.

CEO - USAA

34 Royal Gardens Dr

San Antonio, TX 78248

and ask General Robles plainly and directly whether we employees sold your data.

General Robles is an extremely honest and transparent man: and he will respond to you right away. I think that we can also expect General Robles to respond right here on these pages.

#363650

Information is not sold, I have never had that problem.

USAA is higher if you do not have any other accounts with them. If you open a savings account or anything, the rates drop significantly. GEICO was twice as high for me and with less coverage than what USAA provides.

#363312

Also throwing the *** flag

#363309

That is where the lie comes in. USAA does not sell information, period.

#363281

I find it interesting that the responder would be reading a web site called pissed consumer looking for comments on a company he personally is happy with. Sounds like someone on the inside trying to thwart the free flow of information.

I can assure him (and anyone else who reads this) that USAA sold, or gave away, my personal information and private phone number. I specifically asked the cold caller where they got my data and they told me USAA.

#363119

None of this is true. Have used USAA for years and they NEVER sell your information.

Both sites can be found at www.youtube.com/usaamembers and www.twitter.com/usaamembers Please read the following statements made by me in an effort to give an accounting to what has happened between USAA and I over the last few years, after I was hit by a drunk driver and disabiled. Also let me know if there are any objections to my websites, or in posting the comments below. Remember Monique, you offered to get USAA to make a "Business Decision" about settling with me about this issue. I have asked for USAA and PHH Mortgage to reduce my mortgage by 50% percent in an effort to settle this matter, and settle all of the injustice against me and my grandson who are still both members of USAA. It's on tape, you suggested it, not me, but I think it's a great way to settle this matter without having to file an American's with Disabilities Claim from me or my grandson, and without having to expose all of these issues in court. I don't think for one second that any judge in America would be too happy with an Insurance Company that made 18 billion dollars in profit at the expense of it's disabled, injured, or economically disadvantaged members, and at the expense of civil rights violations, and Americans with Disability violations. As members of USAA I feel I have the right to create websites and social media sites that are related to the fact that both Justin (my grandson) and I are both USAA Members. In spite of how both of us have been treated by USAA, I am still a USAA Member. As stated on one of the audios found at our Youtube site, I still take issue that I was forced by a USAA attorney to remove my USAAMEMBER.COM AND USAAMEMBERS.COM website. I believe that it was all part of being bullied by USAA because both sites were at the top of the search engines. I also believe that in doing so USAA violated my civil rights, which is covered under the first amendment with the freedom of speech. I had and have a right to speak, write and blog about the issues I have with the way USAA has treated me. So with that said, I am asking congressman David Vitter to give me a chance to speak to him, and I am asking for his help in filing a civil rights complaint in regards to being forced to shut down my sites and surrender both domain names. I am also asking to have a personal meeting with the executive staff and board members, where I can inform everyone what has happened to me and my grandson, and to ask for the resignation of Josue "Joe" Robles Jr., USAA's president and CEO, for allowing all of these violations and discriminations to happen against me and my grandson while under his watch. Below is a list of all of the wrongs that USAA has committed against me or my family. Keep in mind that all of issues started after I became injured, and the USAA collections department started treating me and my family like a dog. 1) USAA collections department takes money out of members saving account who is 15 years old (without minors permission or knowledge) to pay his disabled grandfather debts to USAA. USAA collections pillaged my grandson Justin Bellue's (a minor) saving account to pay past due bills that I owed to USAA. I have already explained how hurtful and deceitful this was to both me and my grandson. And how it has severely effected my grandson's mental health when he found out that all the money he had worked so hard for (15 years old at the time), just to find out that a "reputable firm" (USAA) had found a way to take every penny of it. 2) USAA Attorney's forces member to surrender personally owned websites and domain names, possibly violating members civil rights to freedom of speech. I had and have the right to give an accounting of what has happened to me and my grandson, and how USAA has treated me since I became disabled. So with that said, I am asking congressman David Vitter to give me a chance to speak to him, and I am asking for his help in filing a civil rights complaint in regards to being forced to shut down my sites and surrender both domain names. 3) USAA would not pay all of storm damage claim, member had to hire a Storm lawyer. Had to hire a storm lawyer to be paid for storm/hurricane damage. USAA settled out of court with me, but I had to pay the lawyer almost $5000 dollars out of the damage claim. That was an ordeal in itself, having to force USAA to cover what I was paying for on my insurance policy. 4) USAA Locks disabled member out of it's USAA website. Yes I have been locked out of the USAA.COM website. Have not been allowed to access the site in years, all during my disability and injury. 5) USAA and PHH Mortgage misappropriates, mismanages escrow funds and federal principle payment funds of member. Went through and still going through pure *** about almost loosing my home, and USAA and PHH Mortgage has made it almost unbearable with all of the "Mistakes" they have made with issues about mismanaging my escrow funds (which is a felony in most professions and in most states). I'm not talking about a lot of money, but when you send a letter every month with your certified check for the mortgage payment, instructing PHH Mortgage and the Mortgage Service Center to apply over-payments to escrow, and PHH Mortgage staff deliberately send the money to my principle instead, month after month, phone call after phone call, and it's till not corrected, what are you supposed to do. Let's not forget about the HAMP Program and how I had to get US senators, governors, and executive staff members at USAA like John Saenz involved just to keep USAA and PHH Mortgage from taking my home. I have paid on time, paid extra each month to be applied to my principle, and instead of being rewarded and getting $1000 dollars applied to my principal as promised to all HAMP program participants after 1 year of paying my mortgage payment on time, I get a letter from USAA and PHH Mortgage that I owe them $673.26 in an escrow shortage, and this is not the end of the story, it get's better. About 3 months or so before I got my escrow shortage letter, USAA and PHH Mortgage sent me a letter telling me, advising me, that my monthly mortgage payment was going up because my homeowners insurance rate had gone up. It's kind of like raising chickens and asking your fox to guard the hen house while your asleep. So let me get this straight, there may be a domino effect going on here deliberately, and it all started with the USAA collections department and their "Were going to collect what you owe us no matter what we have to do attitude'. 6) USAA Refuses short sale of truck. My new truck, lost that, USAA sent some dudes over and picked up my truck, in spite of the fact that I had a buyer that was willing to pay $17,500 dollars for it at short sale. USAA collections turned it down of course, and sold the car at auction for less than $17,500, and guess what? USAA sent me a bill for the difference. I think they were demanding over $12,000 dollars from me after the auction. Not sure, really don't remember the amount, too ticked off about being turned down for the short sale. 7) USAA Adjuster and Calvin's auto try to have member arrested for driving off the lot with my ex-wife's vehicle, even though ex-wife gave permission. USAA adjuster failed to communicate properly with Calvin's Auto repair in Baton Rouge about the repair to my ex-wife's car (Carol Craig), and as a result I was threatened with arrest and the sheriff's department was called to arrest me unless I paid a balance of almost $500 dollars. I paid the money in cash on the spot to avoid being arrested, then I called USAA and after getting in touch with the right person, they discovered that the adjuster never bothered looking at the car physically, and had only looked at pictures that Calvin's Auto repair had sent them. There were issues about after market parts, salvage yard parts, etc., to repair my x-wife's car with, and their seemed to be an issue of Carol owing money, in spite of the fact that the other insurance company was at fault. There was also an issue of the fact that carol's car was only worth or valued at less that $8000 dollars, and that the repairs were in excess of $6500 dollars, which means that the car should have been totaled. But USAA and Calvin's auto acted together to bring down the cost of the parts by using salvage yard parts, and after market parts to avoid having to total the car. Once again, USAA could have subrogated all cost against the insurance company that was at fault, but instead choose the route to save them money, and caused the confusion of Carol owing for repairs to the vehicle. I was asked by Carol to pick up the car since she was at work, and after picking up the car from Calvin's auto I took Justin out to eat. While we were eating I got a phone call from Calvin's auto that I was going to be arrested unless I paid what was owed on the vehicle. I told them, I was told by Carol that the car was finished, and that nothing was owed. He said we have 15 minutes to return with almost $500 in cash or that I would be arrested. We left the restaurant, and drove to Calvin's auto and paid Calvin's in front of a waiting police officer. I paid it with my mortgage note money. 8) Did USAA and Calvin's Auto manipulate the repair of a vehicle when in fact the car should have been totaled? In my opinion, I believe that it is possible that USAA adjusters and Calvin's auto may have manipulated the repair of Carol's vehicle when in fact the vehicle should have been totaled. When they chose not to total Carol's vehicle, and instead used salvage parts from a salvage yard, and after market parts to keep the total repair below the percentage of the cars worth versus the cost of repair. Had USAA used new parts to repair Carol's vehicle, the cost would have went well beyond the value of the vehicle. I guess subrogation is too much of a hassle for USAA, even when your not at fault. So Calvin's charged an arm and a leg for the repair, a repair they never should have done because their is still frame damage from being hit at a dead stop at a stop light, by a truck at 45 miles per hour. Issues with alignment and other issues with the repaired car remain to this day. If the repaired car was declared a total loss Carol would have receive compensation based on what the insurance company determines the actual cash value (ACV) of the car was before the accident. This is calculated through various means - such as local sales of like vehicles, NADA and Blue Book, etc. 9) I'm not done listing everything, there is more to list, but I'm too tired. I am sure the USAA lawyers are huffing and puffing right now, listing how I may have violated the law in bringing this issue to the attention of the executive staff at USAA and to the attention of US Congressman, and via the social networks. But that's what I expected, why on earth would USAA lawyers and executive staff want to do a 52 year old disabiled member, and a 20 year old now disabiled member right, when they have the power, the time, and the money to bully me, or to continue to bully me? Nevertheless, I peck away at the keyboard knowing that I am doing my best to bring all of these issues to the light of justice. Anyhow, I know it sounds like I am mad, but really I am just in a state of having to defend myself by writing about it (very theraputic?) and defend my health from past and present USAA and PHH Mortgage descriminations, mismanagements of escrow funds, and attacks. I am not writing or expressing anything contained herein or on my websites that are out of anger, it's more out of frustration about why me and my grandson had to be treated like we have been treated, and why I keep having to fight your companies. I will write more later. Hope to hear from Monique and John. (Don't be afraid of the recordings, USAA states that it records conversations also, so I'm not afraid to talk when I know I am being recorded, why should any of you?) When I am done documenting everything I think it will be obvious to most legal minds, and anyone with common sense that USAA and PHH Mortgage has comitted a great injustice, delberately in my opinion, against me and my family, because I became disabiled and unable to pay off some of my loans. In my opinion USAA has acted like a bully, trying to kick me out as a member one way or another, so that I will not cost them any more money. I remain civil minded and peaceful in regards to this matter, however I do have a passion for Justice, and I hope the best for all parties involved in bringing this matter to a peaceful ending. During the two years that I was sponsored by the Federal Trade Commission to promote the Federal Copa Laws online (one of only three companies nationwide), my passion to protect kids online was honored by the FTC, FTC members, members of congress for my help and technical knowledge, and members of the online community. Companies like McAfee even flew me out to California to help them with their online "Kids" policy and kids site they were launching. So don't misjudge me and think I am some push-over disabiled grandpa man. I am a very passionate person when it comes to justice, and even more passionate when it comes to injustice. I also just got news a few minutes ago that my dad is dying, so there might be a delay in me having to document all this stuff. Onward, David Craig Mastrianni P.S. Pre approval mortgage gone awry

I was pre-approved for a mortgage with USAA. The home was a new construction. I thought this would be a seamless process as I've had hundreds of thousands of dollars in my USAA accounts over the years and my credit score was pretty good. Upon the loan being reviewed by the processor, the criteria to close the loan arbitrarily changed. Initially, I was supposed to bring around 7k to closing within weeks I was told I needed to bring 30K to closing. Often, my phone calls and emails were not returned. The closing date was moved repeatedly, without notice or otherwise. I found out the closing date changed when I called to inquire on the status of my loan. I would not recommend using USAA mortgage services. Disappointed.

I recently had the same experience too. Loan was denied 3 or 4 days after our closing date.

They kept needing documentation after documentation, often the same documents over and over. Communication was horrible as you stated. Not once did my process ever answer his phone. Direct to voice mail every time.

Callbacks were late and emails were rarely returned. My real estage agent with 31 years in the business said USAA was the worst company he has worked with ever.

Left two negative reviews and they were never posted on their website. A positive is they did refund my loan fees after I told them I closed with another company.

#362230

We are set to "close" in two days, and we have had nothing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but trouble from our USAA loan processor. She is unorganized, trying to get everything done in the last week when we gave her all the paperwork 2 months ago.

So much unnecessary stress when it's all right in front of your face. At one point she even asked us WHEN the closing date was ... umm, have we not been working on this together for 2+ months?! Really with that.

Don't bother leaving voicemails, and don't expect a returned e-mail. Your best bet is calling the USAA hotline and speaking to some random OTHER person who can give you more information about the state of your loan than the person specifically assigned to the file. On top of that, add the fact that we had to prove we were entitled to BAH once stateside (we are overseas right now) ... but we weren't told this by our loan processor.

Instead, she said "you don't qualify" - what do you mean we don't qualify?!? We have great credit, money in the bank, two full time salaries, pre-approved for 3 months, etc. We have to call 3 other people to finally find the problem... our loan processor (they don't call them officers at USAA) didn't add the BAH to our income or even THINK about that entitlement.

Instead, the customer means so little that it's easier to just say "sorry, you're not approved" ... oh wait, there was no sorry.

At this point, we just want the deal closed and done with. But to anybody even thinking about USAA in terms of mortgages, please just stay away and find a local company that understands the needs of your specific state and whom you can rely on to return your calls.

#359198

We had very similar expreinece as you, deny our pre approval mortgage at last minute, calls and emails were not never returned, the member relationship team was a piece of juck, please learn from our pain, never never nerver use USAA mortgage services, USAA mortgage services should by closed, otherwise, there will be more USAA members like us get hurts.

Dont use USAA for a Mortgage!

We thought since we are military that we would use them. Well, we are sadly disappointed. They don't return phone calls or email, you just have to keep hounding them, they don't give accurate good faith estimates (ours was over $9,000 off) And they are apparently too busy to make sure they properly pre-approve Buyers. After six weeks, the inspection, appraisal and us all ready to move, they finally got around to looking at our paperwork in detail and denied us! (we disclosed everything up front, there should not have been any surprises) BAD FORM USAA! (yes, I am yelling!)

Refinanced loan-USAA, they sold to Ban1 and that sold to Freddie Mac within 2 mos .

I am just furious and feel betrayed by this company I have been with since 1963....and a bank since its opening in San Antonio. And I don't know that anyone can do a thing about it but it is so wrong. If I had wanted my home mortage with Freddie Mac, I could have found another way and at less cost but I hate the whole idea of being into another government agency and espeically this one that was so food of crooks and greed. My husband died of Agent Orange Cancer from 22 years in Army and Viet Name, and he would be appalled at this major sell out of USAA to the current government "system" that is no longer' " of the people" as far as I am concerned. With Obama's feelings about our military so apparent I feel this is a 'sell out 'and I am really angry about this.

Please review your paperwork. USAA only finances with certain banks and those banks are not allowed to sell these loans.

Now these banks may try to get you to refinance through them alone and exclude USAA. Not sure what BAN1 is, but it is not a USAA provider

Sorry and Sad consumer

I wish I had found this site before we started the re-fi with USAA. I too fell prey to the scam of changing the points at the eleventh hour. Our points went from $407. to $3,220. with the explanation that our loan to value ratio was only 74%. This news arrived 54 days after we locked in our rate and points. This was a simple refi no funds take out and we have an excellant credit rating. I need to know how to fight back. Who do I report this scam to. I will tell all of you out there if you wanted to be treated fairly and have some communications with your processor. Stay away from USAA.

Re: no thursday drop-off policy---news to me too, and I was with USAA for many years until their customer service got so bad that I dropped them and went with AAA. USAA had been good to work with until they started to automate things and I could not get hold of anyone promptly and then when I finally got someone, they gave me an answer just to get rid of me or the answer was just plain wrong. Drop the bums and go somewhere else, preferably a local agency and not one with a menu to wade thru when you call.

Hated USAA AFTER 12 YEARS did not pay out

Been with USAA 12 years now; I never filed a claim with them until now. They want me to pay for the damages done to my car. Why do I pay insurance again? So I can pay USAA once a month and then pay for my car getting fixed? I think I am just about to say *** it and just walk away from good ole USAA. I have been on the phone with them all *** day and they are treating me like I am the criminal. Any one knows a good insurance company I can switch to? I called Amica they are lower in price and more better.

I have been with Geico many years now, after having policies at all the other major car insurers. I can say that they are THE best at handling claims, and never make you feel like a criminal.

MADDMAX,

Did you have full coverage (comp/coll) or just liability on your policy? It does make a difference!

#351620

MADDMAX, I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM.. I JUST DROPPED THEM AS WELL..

MY CAR WAS STOLEN AND LIKE YOU SAID THEY TREATED ME LIKE I WAS THE CRIMINAL/SUSPECT..

IT'S BEEN ALMOST FOUR MONTHS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT MY CAR.. I WENT BACK TO GEICO..

USAA refused my claim and called me a liar

I was a "member" of USAA for 40 years for both homeowners and auto insurance. I had few claims and was never delinquent on my premiums. The diamond in my wife's wedding ring was insured as a high-quality gem (I have the gemologist's report). It received a sharp blow and was damaged. Upon regrading, it was valued much less than before the accident. USAA said it could not happen. I sued. I lost. I quit USAA. I am now with Amica for auto insurance. Premiums are lower, the people are nicer, and USAA had to send me $10,000 that they had been squirreling away all those years. I wonder how they get away with those tear-jerking commercials that scam veterans and armed forces members into "joining," as if were a privilege. I recommend that any veteran in my generation (age 65) change auto insurance carriers. Get the benefits that I did without the two-year-long hassle with them.

what type of coverage did you have on the ring? basic homeowners insurance would not be adequate if the ring was as valuable as you claim. Read your policy, it will let you know the limits of coverage for valuables.

#360427

:) I too am a 40+ yr subscriber to both homeowners and auto insurance with USAA and have had nothing but A+ treatment from them across all the years, most recently in 2010 when we had a hot water heating pipe burst in our basement family room, basically destroying the entire floor. Our claims adjuster at USAA was excellent, although a little slow at times, and within 6 months we had received full compensation for all expenses we incurred and all of the items that were destroyed .

Great service - I'm disappointed to hear that some policyholders have had a bad time with USAA. Not me!!

#359910

I had heard of this company before but did not investigate. Was initially interested as I am a vet.

After reading from this site it appears it's just like most, just take the money and give little to nothing in return as possible. I don't really need to change what I have now so USAA is as far as I'm concerned not going to get a dime of my money.

Guess those ex-service guys who supposedly started USAA should have got Dishonorable Discharges judging by what I have read here! Worthless trash.

To someone who knows better. For someone who knows better, or claims too, you sure don't know anything!!

If any of this were the case I wouldn't have a complaint now would I!! You should use your brain and think before you jump in shark infested waters. And for the record I don't talk smack over the internet. After 40 years with USAA I am finding a new carrier

I have full coverage auto insurance with "0" deductible and have had since 1971. On 09/08/2011 I had my car stolen while on a business trip (520 miles from home). Naturally I reported it to USAA that day. I have never been exposed to such incompetency by a group of "Professionals" before in my life! I was passed around from one claims rep. to another for 4 days before one was found that seemed to know what he was doing and could answer the simplest questions. During that time I repeatedly asked for a supervisor and was refused. When a supervisor "Crystal" called me back she said to me, "feel free to find another insurance company". She later (on 9/21/2011) [after the vehicle was recovered and deemed "totaled" that I had to release my car to her before the vehicle was even appraised and a price settled on "or else pay the charges myself for any storage." So far I have no vehicle to drive, USAA has not paid a dime and the adjusters attitude seems to care less. Meanwhile, I am still waiting! What has happened to USAA ? Who is in charge ? Where has friendly service gone? Is it time to find a new Insurer? What do you think ? James A. Waddill, Capt. U.S. Army, Retired

To Honest Guy

Keep your a- - off this site and crawl back to your owner, USAA!! Hawking bs for a job is....BS. Your advise here is the same kind of cr-p your employer passes out after they've got a persons money.

Anne that is false, USAA is nothing like a broker and they have their own insurance companies but some service go through other carries but 95-97% are all done in house. Auto, Home, Banking, Life, and Investments. You may want to research or ask an actual employee before you say things that are not true.

What people do not realize is that USAA does not sell its OWN insurance products but is acting like a broker in selling OTHER companies' product lines. For example my mother bullied my father into purchasing Long Term Care insurance (she was convinced he would develop Alzheimers') & he was sold on a product described in the USAA magazine.

I looked @ it & discovered it was an excellent product but one available through a company I represented & which I could also service.

The price was no different, the benefits were the same but he didn't have to call USAA for answers or for help w/ problems. Oh, and please don't call for insurance quotes because I am no longer licensed

USAA stands for

DO NOT use USAA for your mortgage!! They do not give a rat's *** if you are a veteran or a first time homebuyer...or both! You would think that they would take extra good care of their soldiers (one who has been deployed TWICE in 3 years) as they claim to do in their new commercials but that is the best example of false advertising I've seen yet. Here is what happened: They convinced us to go with the VA loan since it would be a "better deal" in their opinion even though we had 25k to put down. Our realtors cringed when we told them how we were planning to finance the house...we should have known then. Since we are not married yet they said only my fiance could be on the loan. The contract was signed by both of us since we originally were going with the conventional loan. So of course the FIRST question we emailed to the processor was if we had to ammend the contract. She said no only to change her mind 3 weeks later. We were shocked at this recommendation since we didn't think we would be approved on just one of our salaries. They "ran the numbers" and said that my fiance would be approved based off of his current salary, excellent credit, no debt, and large amount of liquid assets. So we "locked in the rate" and proceeded with the contract, appraisal, title search, inspection, termite treatment, closing date, etc. In the meantime we had numerous un-returned phone calls, emails, and requests for multiple copies of documents even though they had been attached to previous emails and sent already. A huge headache in summary. After the "conditional loan approval" that was based off of the same salary that my fiance provided in the application, our processor called to say that he had been denied based on income. That's right.....the SAME income and credit and everything that they had approved him on, ordered an appraisal, and had us set up the closing date two days before. I am a mortgage officer myself and I know firsthand that appraisals and closing dates should not be set until affordability and credit history are reviewed and approved. They had absolutely no explanation or apologies for getting us this far in the process and then denying him based on information they had from the beginning. Not to mention we are now backed against a wall since our due diligence is up in two days and this was sprung on us this morning. So $1,000 is potentially out the window and the icing on the cake was the $350 processing fee assessed along with our denial letter. Oh and the manager returned our phone call SEVEN hours later and ten minutes before they closed. Of course we missed the call because we were doing honest work at our jobs unlike them. Do yourselves a favor and don't fall for their advertisements. Going through USAA may cause you to lose much of your hard earned money, your sanity and perhaps your dream home.

I am so disappointed. I was looking for feedback and find racist remarks about Mexican American and people who obviously have not done proper research on what has changed in the mortgage process and how much paperwork is required now with all these new regulations.

Read the news, learn about what to expect...you can find it on google.

And I agree with Pulltype and J, I have yet to find any news about mismanagment in mortgage. Shame on the racist comment.

Our experience with USAA is almost identical. We were quickly pre-approved for a loan, found a house and sign a contract.

Three weeks into the process hey started asking for additional document. Ones we already provided and wound up giving them multiple copies of our tax returns. The capper was my wife’s business. She has been very successful in business and has had a large increase in receipts.

Her profits as a percentage of the receipts is actually down, but more than the previous year as well. But because she is doing well, USAA states they cannot accept her income. They asked her to justify this income increase which she did by providing documentation from her business. Further, my wife was asked to prove that taking funds from her business would not hurt her business.

Even a letter from my wife’s CPA was not good enough for USAA and a day after USAA scheduled closing data USAA turn us down. We are now out of $1000 direct fees to USAA and another $10,000 in escrow expenses. Our phone calls were not returned and only persistence by non-stop calling got any response. The executive complaint department was of little assistance.

Further we were promised a refund only to have them call back and renege on that too. Most of these issues would have been caught before we signed an escrow.

I'm in the process of getting a mortgage with USAA. My processor recently told me that Underwriting needed to know the source of some deposists that were deposited into our checking account.

So if we had a deposit of $500, they want to know where the $500 came from.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm starting to get fed up with them.

USAA is worse than all the other banks by far for mortgage loans. Here is why: At least with the other banks, they are not intentionally misleading consumers as being the Veteran friendly.

Case in point- we are refinancing our $745,000 first mortgage in Palo Alto via a "jumbo" loan. The assigned USAA mortgage processor, Monique in San Antonio, barely apeaks English and is rude and very unknowledgeable. I asked her basic questions about rate and term, and she said she did not understand the question. I got a hold of her supervisor and she basically defended Monique's poor service.

This is a case of hiring Mexican Americans over white americans simply to be "diverse".

They are a rotton, pathetic organization- USAA mortgage services

The black and white reads simply one bank cannot do everything the best. USAA and home mortgages clearly clarified ( they farm out the mortgages to third party lenders.

Service member or veteran does not matter USAA still requires charges on the VA loan that the VA criteria states is not needed to close the loan. Just attempted to refinance through USAA. They went the extra mile lol why should they get me a lower % 3.99 rate when there making $$ 6.4 off the rate now.

Oh yes they offered a lower rate put a a tremendous refinance rate. When I asked them modify the loan to under 20,000 an earthly number lol and they charge for the loan application.

I have everything through USAA (home loan, which they approved me for), auto insurance, homeowners insurance, checking and savings. They are the best bank I've been with ever.

I've been in over 24 yrs. in the military and I will not bank with anyone else (Bank of America, Washington Mutual..now Chase, etc.) The other banks are rip offs, not USAA. Does anyone see USAA in the news about being bought out like Washington Mutual (now Chase)? How about Bank of America with their inappropriate home mortgage schemes, etc?

BofA literally stuck it to all the veterans on their home mortgages while they were deployed. Selling their mortgages and throwing vets out into the street. Has USAA?

I THINK NOT!!!! USAA IS NUMBER 1 IN MY BOOK!!!

#345622

Sorry, you are both WRONG. I find USAA very easy to work with.

Real veterans would know that paperwork is even more important than guns, sad to say.

If you think you can skip or slide by on sloppy paperwork in todays mortgage climate, veteran or not, think again. Try Pentagon Credit Union and you will find the same result.

#345603

Story probably 100% accurate. There are NO banks or mortgage companies that "give preference" to vets or active duty, its all a big advertisement game and Amer Legion, VFW, Marine Corps League ALL BOUGHT THE BULLS.H.I.T.

from USAA. USAA should be arrested for pretending to be all for the vets, their not, just another schemeing bank.
